With all the D800 'twins' talk, thought it might be fun for the budget conscious to know there are
capable sub $1000 options out there. I use a D5100 and 35 f1.8G for a lot my brewpub stuff but
I threw the 70-300 VR on it yesterday to see what it could do with some Sandies. Thx for lookin'

The equipment can only do so much it's the photographer behind the camera that really matters. The Monkey would probably do better with an iphone than I could with the best stuff available.

Appreciate it, Nathan. Glad I had a zoom...pulled back a bit and JUST missed clipping the wingtips.

Will those are really nice images, per usual. Was the pub visit before or after - or both.

many thanks, Harry. Actually, I brought home a growler so of course I had to make sure it was OK.
Maybe a pint consumed (for quality control purposes) before Mrs 'monkey and I made a meal of it last night.

Trench you are so much of a better picture taker than I will ever be. I'll try my dad gum hardest to ketch up by buying a D800

If they all come in at the same time I may have a few to sell as I will be overstocked

How so? with the 70-300VR on the 5100... resolution is going to be a bit higher than on the D800 in crop mode...

Trench didn't have any issues with AF.. so what exactly would be better?

NIce shots Will
