I dont know if it's normal but my markins Q20 (i think) doesnt rotate around the center axis. The base rotates but i'm talking about the actual ball not rotating inside the casing. It does move around normally toward the sides and around the sides but doesnt rotate 360 degrees around the vertical axis (sort of like spinning a basketball on ur finger). Again, i'm not talking about the base not turning but the actual ball inside the casing and yes i untightened the main dial. Sometimes i want to rotate the camera horizontally around the center axis without having to untighten the base. Is this normal?
do you have the friction wheel tightened up too much? that will do it sometimes. it will cause stiction and after loosening the friction might require a little breakaway effort.
Oh that one. I've never touched it since i bought it. I guess i will play around with it to see if it's causing the problem. I will post the result when i get home. Thanks.
In addition to adjusting the inner wheel on the main dial, you may also need to lubricate the ball. My M10 was getting a little balky, but after lubricating it, it made a substantial difference.
