Mt. Tom looming over the Owens River in the Eastern Sierra

"I faced the icons that loomed through the veil of incense" Fergus M. Bordewich

Mountains are big and your perspective of them can certainly change with a lens. I wanted to make the almost 10k feet from the from viewpoint to the top of the peak to be felt. All of its ridges and gullies are endless, there can't be a person who has explored that whole mountain, there is so much nearby that would steal one's attention. It speaks about it's dominance to its surroundings and fools the viewer into thinking this river you see is fed me (Mt Tom). ~

We shot a couple of different scenes along the Bends of the Owens River in the Eastern Sierra during the last private workshop. Showed them this scene in the middle of the day and they weren't too keen on shooting it but when we returned the next morning they seemed to enjoy it a heck of lot more!

(thnx DVD for the grammar chk)

The view just opened up in reverence to majestic Mt. Tom. Loving the rich color palette here Steve and I'm guessing I would pick this over the middle of the day conditions as well.

It's presence most surely is felt! Beautiful light and colour, nice composition with the river leading in.
What focal length was used?

gorgeous shot, steve. hope the workshop went well.

fyi (& don't be hatin' on me jus' 'cause i be tryin' to school ya sum here):

it's = it is . . . as in, it's (it is) a contraction of two words, it & is, when you use an apostrophe.

the impersonal possesive pronoun its, as in its dominance or its surroundings, doesn't use an apostrophe. no apostrophe in his, none in hers, none in its.

It's It's It's (shit!)

Can't believe that all 3 of them are wrong!

D, thanks for the quick grammar lesson. Appreciate it!

I accidentally leave words out when I type or write so if anyone feels like correcting me I do not mind one bit.

Thanks!

Wayne, I'm half way to Joshua Tree grabbing a bite so I don't have that info on the focal length. Maybe 50mm? Maybe the info is there if you right click the image? Xif was all there when uploaded.

The Owens River makes a great FG and lead-in to the distant Sierras. Nicely done.

Fantastic, I love the warm colours in what must be quite a cold environment!
