not sure how to explain this. It is a little confusing.
I just bought a second hand Sony A-850 camera.
The AF is perfect, the camera auto focus, I take the picture, and it come out perfect, using three different lenses.
But, the picture is not sharp at the viewfinder.
It is not a problem of the diopter adjustment, I can see quite well, and even tried all the possibilities adjusting the diopter.
If I focus manually, and can see a sharp image in the viewfinder , then the picture is blurred.
So if I,
AF = sharp picture but not in focus viewfinder
MF = sharp viewfinder, not focussed picture
I'm not new to cameras, so I discard the following options:
it is not blurred because movement, I use a solid tripod
it is not anything related to micro adjustment, it is disabled and reset
it is not the diopter adjustment, I checked all the way up and down
it is not my imagination... ;-)
one more thing, sorry to be so boring, I tried with two different screens, type G and type L, but both are the same.
My guess is that the camera needs adjustment, can I do that somehow? installing some spacers/shim?

I visually checked inside the camera, removing the focusing screen and taking a look. When you install and lock the focusing screen, it does not fit very well. Let's say it is a little loose, and the focussing screen moves a little up and down if you tilt the camera up and down. Don't think this is good.
I think I should send the camera to Sony so they can fix it, not sure if they will replace the mechanism or just fix it applying some force.
Do you have any experience with Sony USA repair? I'm new to sony and not sure how they handle repairs.

At least on my A900, it can be tricky making sure the screen is seated correctly and closing the frame so it properly clicks into place. If it's loose, something is not right - it's either not inserted correctly, was forced at some point and has warped or broken the frame perhaps or was defective to begin with.
Since you just bought this camera, the seller should help you out on this I would think.

Thanks for the video, it is really good. I tried again and I found what my problem was: I didn't push hard enough, didn't want to break anything.
I saw in the video where do you have to push, and I push harder, and I heard the 'click'. Now the focussing screen is at the right position, and the camera focuses fine again.
You just saved me a big headache
