its an absolutely stunning capture of the water...but, the hands look too soft to me not focus wise, but not rough enough.
Maybe a little scratched up and dirty, more wrinkled or worn, would help to give more of a sense of back story and add another dimension to the concept of breaking through and overcoming adversity.
Just my 2 cents though, I sure can not capture a shot like that with my gear and/or skill set!
EDIT: Also, what if there was something reflected in the water, semi-transparently so that the arm was still visible, but a shadow of what was ahead was visible as well? Maybe ridiculous, I dont know.
Thanks everyone. Hand belongs to a fifteen year old friend of my son, so not many lines or wrinkles. He had no problem punching the water for me though.

Thanks guys. Yep, through an aquarium, flashes on either side. Norm, not quite unique - I got the idea from a similar shot on Alex Koloskov's site. I thought it would be perfect for the theme.
