What's the adaptor weight? I just can't see it being much smaller or lighter than a rebel body coupled with a nex. I dunno, agin, maybe I'm missing something. I just can't see using a 35L on nex. The lens is so much bigger than the camera, the handling is wonky, the adaptor would make it even more front heavy and a small rebel can't weigh much more.
the contax 45 g and metabones is already very front heavy and works well only shooting waist level...and that's a small lens.
Someone mentioned live view....rebels have live view.
I still think, upon further reflection, this is a novelty. One no doubt some will put to good use, but unless I have an epiphany, not one for me..even with a relatively heavy investment in l glass
I can see video guys buying this, I'm guessing it's more for that.

So it's $380 for auto aperture control
IS, EXIF as well. Not too shabby.

Sounds like a good idea to get compatibility with the rest of your lens kit for a EF shooter running an E mount kit on the side (or vice versa).
Eh, that'd be me. No AF is a bit of a turnoff though. However, I understand that getting a useful AF from SLR lenses on a mirrorless is probably an impossible task anyways - that's why, say, the Tamron lens for NEX has an altogether different kind of motor.
The price is an even less pleasant part of the package, though, and without a real need for this adapter I'd pass for now. Might as well buy a lens with these money.
It will be even more interesting to see this forum if Canon comes out with a EF mount APS-C mirrorless system later this year There maybe many NEX-5N for sale in this market place then ops including conurus adaptor for free

Well, in order to be attractive, the Canon mirroless would have to be smaller than today Canon DSLR's and then they would have a shorter registration than the current EF mount. They would be in the same position as Sony with the NEX and the A-mount, so that is not that easy. I would guess that is one of the reasons Canon did not jump the mirrorless market - they know they also need a lens lineup it they want to get number one in this market.

So, with the Conurus adapter and EF lenses mounted to a NEX, are the lenses always wide open until the shutter is released, or does the adapter stop them down as the aperture is changed from the camera body? I'm assuming it's the latter since exposure is real time on the NEX?
Adapting EF lenses to NEX is neat, but not for me. I can see it being relevant to a niche audience, which is great news for anyone who has the need.
Not "has the need". Its that I still have, along with a 1ds2, two Canon L lenses along with three more in ZE mounts. This adapter allows me to use those 5 lenses on the NEX for less than $100 each. Sure, if I wasn't already a Canon shooter I'd never do this. So in the meantime I can shoot all this good glass while we wait for Sony to get it together, lens wise.

Well I guess that answers my question! I guess maybe for a backup body and more options.
Yep, plus I can't use rangefinder lenses on a Rebel
I was recently pondering taking my 5dII kit with me on an upcoming vacation or just taking the NEX. From experience on my last couple of vacations carrying a DSLR kit everywhere daily leaves me with a sore back. Now, I can take my NEX, a couple of light rangefinder lenses, and a couple of my Canon lenses. I'm not only saving weight by not taking my Canon body but I don't have to take the larger Canon glass I normally would use in the focal lengths the RF lenses can cover. It's all about options
Too bad I rarely put anything bigger than Leica M, Zeiss ZM or Contax G alt lenses on my NEX nowadays - got completely spoiled by their pocket-size dimensions...
I can see myself going this route once I get my NEX 7 and if I am satisfied with it. That would enable me to use my superlative Zeiss ZE glass on the 7, a very demanding body in terms of lenses. Then I can sell my 5D II, and wait for 5DIII comfortably, as and when MM Canon decide to retire their old body, and if I like it.
Frankly, now that I have a NEX 5N, every time I pull out my 5DII, MF is so much more uncertain, and the lack of a swivel screen, that I am doing it less and less often. Problem on the NEX is top glass. I have the Contax Gs, and they are great, but not fast. Fast, wide glass simply doesn't exist unless you pay extreme prices for Leica if you happen not to love Rokinon (my case). So using a ZE25 f:2.0 makes a whole lot of sense.
Sorry! We find some "data transfer problem" on our adapter when use on NEX5N & NEX7 camera.
But no any problems on other model like NEX5, NEXC3, FS100, VG10.....
Can you tell me, which model NEX camera will use on this canon EF adapter?
If you use NEX5N or NEX7 or you worry about this.....
Pls tell me and you can reject your EMS parcel when it arrive,
so you not need to pay any charge and it will direct send back to us,
and then i will fix this "firmware problem" and ship it back to you ASAP.
Anyway, pls feel free to contact me for this case....
