May want to update that to say "only to US customers". When I've tried returning things in the past it was never once paid for by Adorama...
Well, we can't issue a UPS pre-paid label to customers outside the US, but if you return a damaged item and email your shipping receipt to CS (or to me if you prefer - [email protected]) it will be refunded.
I have reported those posts in hopes that they will be removed from this thread. I am 100% happy with everything that you did to help me! Thanks again!
Thank you - & Merry Christmas from sunny Cyprus! (and you know where I am if you need to follow up any issues regarding the condition, or the warranty)
Hi All,
I was on my way to my parent’s house for dinner last night and saw this amazing mist in the Snoqualmie river valley on the way to Duvall. We were running late, but I stopped the car, jumped out and took a few quick shots. I should have spent more time to visualize and dial them in, but in any case, here they are. I used the LR3 “direct positive” filter and +25 fill light to offset the super contrast of the filter and this is what I got (no other filters or sharpening outside of the LR3 import defaults and export defaults). All of the 1:1 magnifications are amazingly sharp! Hope to shoot more today!
Thanks Peter! We came down into the valley and saw the mist and I was driving kind of slow looking for a shot. We drove past the rutted road, I noticed it and turned right around to stop for the shot. Very lucky it was my first day with the lens and I was bringing it with me to show my dad (who is a retired video production teacher [his dad was a photographer]). Still shoot my grandfather's Leica 60mm Marco Elmarit R.

I think you misused the report button. If the guy was giving you factual data, and I have no reason to doubt him (then again also no reason to doubt Helen), then there's no need to report him in "hopes they get removed".
That's more of a "the winner writes the history book" ideology, rather than letting facts out there.
It's true, this lens is no longer serviced through Canon.
It's true that only parts from other lenses or old stock that some retailers may have in exist.
It's true that if your lens AF motor fails, more than likely, they will have a better chance of reconstructing Noah's Ark, then you will of finding a new AF motor.
While I'm not ripping on Adorama, or Helen (I enjoy the store, and her forum presence), I find that your report someone in hopes their posts get removed attitude not so good.
I'm glad you got your lens, and I'm glad you enjoy it. It does look truly wonderful and it's an excellent Christmas gift to yourself. Every time I see these threads, it makes me think of a 200 f/2IS and then I droll some.
Enjoy your purchase, and I hope it gives you an extremely long productive photographic life;.

Rob, my guess is that Fred cleaned up those posts which were considered unjustified and offensive towards Helen Oster, and also were written in a patronizing tone towards the OP.
I think that talking about the issue of spare parts availability and 200 f/1.8 servicing hasn't neccessitated the cleanup. That issue alone is well known and it hardly needs any discussion, nor would it provoke any unpleasant reaction.
Be that as it may, how many people can you recall that have reported a major irrepairable failure of their 200 f/1.8 ? How many of those were USM failures ?
Furthermore, some critical parts/assemblies for 200 f/1.8 are still available from independent shops....just gotta know where to look.
Now, why don't we just focus on 200 f/1.8 picture taking.
I did appreciate some of the issues that were raised (and specifically thanked the person for their advice). My comment was only directed at the specific part of the post Peter is referring to. I have since removed the post in order to avoid confusion (in hindsight, I should not have posted that at all), as you are correct it could be considered a mis-use if the context were to be misunderstood.
I was able to go out to the beach for about a half hour and catch some great light!
All shots at F1.8 ISO 100 5DII handheld. Images are all un-processed from RAW, just straight import into LR3 with default settings and export with re-size.
I shot 215 pics in in 45 minutes outside and unless I totally missed focus, I didn't hate any of the shots. This must be the newlywed phase.
The other thing is that usually I need to pump up the clarity or do some post processing and these just seem fine without anything? .. not sure what is up.
Yes, you show a good eye for BIF shooting, the first one required lottsa coordination to have it nicely centered.....a 200mm lens requires some proximity as well, and that is obviously not easy to do with all bird species.
Thanks Peter! This is my first attempt at BIF outside of that goose I got in front of the red barn with my 135L. That was just coincidence it flew by though. I will try some more shots soon. Also some with the TC 1.4x II
Ya, seagulls is probably as far as I take this BIF stuff. Just can't imagine camping in the wetlands in hip waders at 5am, but I love the people who capture that! What amazing dedication!
Nice work Mike,
I love the shot of the road by your parents house.
As far as my 200 1.8 EF thread I am glad it was source of inspiration. Nice to hear that.
I am also in awe at the IQ from this lens. It's just ... beyond.
P.S
Thanks for the heads up about the images disappearing on my 200 1.8 EF thread but ... near as I can tell the pictures are still there..?. In fact, I was going add some new images tonight.
