Two keepers from today; a PIF and a shot accross an old farm at a very distant Snowy owl (100% crop).
1DsMkII + 400 f/5.6.
Today we had a typical coolish southern Ontario winter day, the owl was just a lump of largely white feathers on a thin layer of snow, not much action there, and even if it was, it would have been too distant for any viable photography. Boring in the extreme, no wonder I am not a "birder" .
Another from the local city, a complement to Helena's great pics. This one is taken 100m to the right of Helena's first shot at the bottom of page 7, looking down at exactly where she shot from.
Looks great in B&W, 15Bit! I like Bakklandet in winter and blue hour/night. In summer most of my photos turn out like snapshots and/or postcards (but you can probably produce something interesting even then).
Helena, looking through my folders i can't actually find any pictures of Bakklandet in summer. I guess i must have subconciously come to the same conclusion as you...
A couple more of the city, just to bump the thread a bit.
Beautiful light in the second photo! I have a very similar photo (surprise, surprise ) from the first year we lived in Trondheim (2004), but it's taken with a P&S and yours is much better composed. Btw. the last time I was in town I noticed that we will no longer be able to take such a photo, because the new hotel behind these buildings is going to ruin the "old" look.
I'm surprised there isn't more activity in this thread.
Thanks Helena. I had noticed the construction down that end of town (its hard to miss), but i've not been down with a camera yet so not seen what we have lost photographically. I guess we have to lose some things in the name of progress. Who knows, they might build something either phenomenally beautiful or spectacularly ugly, either of which would offer new photo opportunities....
Since i probably won't get time to post again this week i shall be rude and post photos twice in one day:
Edd, the photo with the white ducks is too funny! They look so confused about the ice.
Dustin, that's beautiful!
Tenn.Jer, beautiful dog, and nice colors and composition.

The other hotel that is being built out there (Clarion, next to Pirbadet) may become that "spectacularly ugly" new photo opportunity. They have posted a sign that says it'll be Trondheim's new tourist attraction and it looks like it'll be a strange construction with lots of angles and shiny surfaces...
