Love the foxes.....how did you get that close on the last one? I mean 97mm even on a crop is amazing. Wish the temperature was showing on the thermometer because it looks like he's freezing.

wnichols:
I'm not sure of the temp but I think it was real close to where F & C converge.

0F would be around -17C, what we have had around here up to a few days ago.

There are a couple of foxes that cruise by my place about every night. Managed to get a few shots at the crack of dawn in January, but it was still too dark at such a high ISO it is just a record. Sometimes I'll sit quietly in the dark in the winter garden and watch them snuffle around in the snow, trot around so gracefully and wild, beautiful creatures. Here, what, 10,000km from Alaska, our foxes look about the same as yours, amazing. Thanks again for the images.

Testing out my new 5d2...has been lots of fun! Is it normal to see lots of digital noise in the shadows from 800 ISO and up? It might have been because of the fact that I left the option in LR3 to convert the RAW files to DNG...or is it the camera?

Note - These pictures were not converted to DNG. I enhanced the saturation/contrast/etc.. in LR3 on the original RAW file and then the rest of minor editing in CS5 and saved as a full res jpeg.

Poor buddy...no one wants to play with him =\.

After 6-10 hours of stopping, waiting and searching...finally found the Aurora up here in Alaska. More pics soon!

Great b&w photos from both 15Bit and wnichols. I also enjoyed the third fox photo from UgashikBob and akfreelance's aurora shot.

Continuing the landscape theme, something less dramatic, more minimal. These are in colour too

Good Afternoon,

+1 for all of those beautiful images being posted

A couple from the eagle cruise on the river (EF 70-200mm MkII with 1.4x II), and from my woodlands (FD 400mm f2.8 at f4), and the first blooming flower out on the main deck (EF 100mm f2.8 L IS Macro). Spring is not that far away...

Best regards to you all,

Edd

We have had a very intense winter. January was very long and cold. When the foxes start looking down at you through the living room window its a hint.

Bob - Your fox shots really pop off the screen.

Beautifully done, vibrant to boot

Super shooting, edd....the Titmous is gorgeous, and the background also helps to make it so.

15Bit....those last shots remind me of some old Japanese inks on rice paper.......lovely.

JJGlos......charming portraits of a cute girl.

Michael....show us some more.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I could go on forever with these, but i won't. So to start the week, and round off the minimal theme, a pano. Apologies for making it a bit wide, but it doesn't work at my usual 1000 pixel sizing. I can cut it down if you want.

John, that moon shot is pretty impressive, particularly when considering the gear used.

Good Morning!,

Cam, John, Peter, and Ernie: Thank you for the kind words...

15Bit: I really enjoy the "Zen" style of the images you have been posting lately; great work!

Peter: The small amount of DOF gain with the 400mm at f4 is helping to up the tack-sharp keeper rate. But, that being said, there is nothing like f2.8 for the OOF area blur rate.

Duty calls once again, so this will be my last post until the end of March; take care and happy imaging .

Regards,

Edd
