I'm surprised you didn't take the ZM 28 f/2 as a good "compromise" between IQ and price. But I've heard very good things about the cron. Congrats! :d
There is no zm 28/2, which makes it a pretty poor compromise.
Uhoh - congrats, looking forward to the pictures with it.
Uhoh, congrats! Last Saturday, Boris (Bobu) let me try his 28 Cron, and ouch! Hopefully the ZA 24 f:1.8 will take my mind off it...
Frezeiss, if you are still undecided in your ZM 21 or 25 dilemna, you should consider ZM 18. It is more highly regarded than the 21, and works very well indeed on the 5N. Even Leica M9 owners think it is a great lens. Then you can get both 18 and 25...:-)
And now I can get back to my own dilemna on which 35 to get...:-)
Yes, Jonas. I could get a Leica R f:2.0, a Voigtländer f:1.2, a Zeiss ZM f:2.0, or even a Leica M, though I am not sure the price difference is worth it, as it will be "only" one lens in 6 or 7 for my secondary-IQ go-everywhere system...:-)

Philber, the ZM 18 is a natural for me, I've read all over that it is excellent and the 28 equiv. is just so right for me! The problem is, I already have a ZF 28 on my D700 so I'll be duplicating the same FL on the NEX. But I could justify it by saying its a tiny version of the D700 combo
I'm a little broke right now so I have many time to really think it over,
Re the 35 lens, if I'm doing all over again I'll get the ZM 35 f/2 or 35 summarit and be done with it.

Hmm... I won't ask how many lenses you need for your primary system...
The Zeiss ZM Biogon 35/2 if you can take the vignetting and low contrast wide open (and like the way it renders of course. The Voigtländer if you need faster. Anything else for less money and IQ.
The ZM 35/2 seem to be around EUR 850-900 new. Counting per euro a Voigtländer makes more sense.
I don't know much about the Leica R 35mm lens.
...but thinking about it; I don't mind the size and weight of a somewhat bigger lens. Why not kick out your ZE 35/1.4 and replace it with a C/Y Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 and use it with any camera?

regards,
35s are such a tough decision for me. I briefly had a ZM 35/2, but I had to send it back due to a loose front element (different from the more common Zeiss "wobble,") and I've decided not to replace it, yet. Optically, I'd say it's the best rangefinder 35 I've tried on the 5N (it has better corner performance on the 5N compared to the 5,) but I really, really like the size of my Nokton 35/1.4, ZM 35/2.8 and Contax G 35, so I'm not sure if I'll give the 35/2 another shot or not. It probably sounds silly to avoid one of the best 35s for a relatively small size difference, but the handling and packability of the smaller lenses is just more enjoyable to me.
Right now, I bring the ZM 35/2.8 for day and flat field shots and the Nokton 35/1.4 for night/indoors/people shots.
Still leaving the 5D2 at home with its all fast cheap and super-performing lenses - so I have against all odds started to think about really slow 18 or 21 lenses. The ZM 18/4 is praised very much, but what's the word on the ZM 21/4.5? That's super slow - on par with a long white excellent Canon tele. But what the heck, it's small
Or would it be betterto get the large ZE 21/3.5? - which I could use it on the 5D2 when eh... I want some slow optics on that.
EDIT: and then there is the Voigtländer Color Skopar 21/4, but I guess that's inferiour to the above choices...(?)
