p.5 #1 · Adobe is not going to allow upgrading from older versions with CS6
This whole mess is just stupid, stupid, stupid (which is Adobe's biggest problem in general lately).
The whole fiasco could have been avoided had they just not said anything until they had a finalized launch plan. It was absolutely braindead stupid to come out and try to force everyone onto CS5.5 with zero information about Creative Cloud beyond "$50 a month for every application!" It was stupider still to establish a December 2011 drop-dead date, then renege on it after customers have spent thousands of dollars trying to prepare according to the rules you've laid out. And it's stupider still to have John Nack post a completely worthless blog entry saying "LOLbad, sry" and still have no answers.
Good lord, his post in a nutshell is "Ha ha, we really messed this up. But we still won't tell you what we're doing with Creative Cloud or how it affects you. ADOBE CARES!" What was the point?! That's like poking an agitated bear using a hive full of angry wasps on the end of a flaming stick. Shut up already, Adobe.

But is the CS5 upgrade I just bought CS5.5 or not?
If you bought an individual product (i.e. Photoshop) which was not updated to a CS5.5 version, then yes.
If you bought a suite, then no.
As I understand it, this only applies to people who buy the full Creative Suite... those that buy individual CS products, like Photoshop, may still be left out in the cold...
