Do you know why the engineers oriented the film area vertically?
Because it is a 645 camera that uses 120/220 film. The film width is ~60mm, so the 45mm component dictates the film area must be vertical, since the film winds horizontally.

I find that to be one of the best features of the camera. I shoot about 80% of my stuff vertically, though, so your tastes may vary.
Let me clarify, by just discovered, I mean I just discovered it was supposed to move. My 60mm and zi version are both the "i" versions, while this one is not. I guess I always assumed the earlier versions didn't move.
