I´ve read it and.... I´ll wait for this one, it seems it´s not a winner like 35 1.4. Although first pics didn´t look this bad to me. I´ll wait for others to review it, and see what happens.
Yeah, it does not look like quite the star the 35 1.4 lens is. Disappointing.
"When such Samyang constructions as the 2.8/14 or the 1.4/35 didn’t need to be ashamed of anything when compared to their more renowned rivals, the 1.4/24 model, despite a much steeper price, lags behind other brand name devices in an obvious way."

Yep. Looks like the massive interest this lens has received beforehand is going down the drain.
Oddly enough, I feel relieved - if these results are indicative of the quality of this lens, I don't need to agonize over the choice anymore. Looks like it's the L and the Sigma left to choose from.
Epic fail. I had my doubts upon looking at the lenstip samples a week or so ago, and noticing quite a bit more coma and vignetting than I am used to with their 35 1.4. But I didn't expect the empirical results to be this bad. Hopefully they will learn from this, and get back on track in the future.
Funny how easily we're forgetting that we're dealing with an "affordable" lens though, and that up until now Samyang lenses (14 and 35 especially) were getting nothing but praise here...
Wides seem to cause many to stumble. Cosina's Voigtländer SL winning streak came to an abrupt end with the disappointing 20/3.5 Aspherical. In fairness though, WA's (wider than 28 or so) are somewhat more challenging from an engineering and materials standpoint.

+1
Yeah, and on a budget price of half the competition is asking too much.

The really bad part is that it's really only an F1.8 according to the review. There are some much better 24/2 lenses around. For about an F2, I don't really see this Samyang as too much of a budget lens, particularly with all it's faults.

I was thinking the same. Using sony, I can find the Samyang for 600€ or zeiss 24 f2 around 1.000€ I know it´s quite a big difference in price, but you get AF and arguably better optics, better build.... well better everything... It´s something to think about.
Those of you that are dissapointed, have you ever used a fast wide angle? It looks great, what's the matter with you? Good luck finding a 24/1.4 that has as smooth bokeh as a 35/1.4, not to speak of 85/1.4.
I don't think anyone was disappointed with the bokeh there.
i am disappointed due to:
1) aperature ring click stops in 1/2 EV steps
2) lack of smooth and direct focusing ring
3) wide open corner coma
4) wide open softness
expectations were that it would be on par with the level of performance of the 14/2.8, especially with the list price that it is.

I´ve used a sigma 24 1.8 a lot at weddings and a canon 24 1.4 (but only once) and well, the sample pics looks good, to be honest, but now the review just makes me think twice, as simple as that. I was expecting too much from them maybe.
The only thing that I don´t like about lenstip samples is that they look veeery soft, but I thought it was due to tha lack of USM; I remember their pics from nikon 35 1.4 were horrible, and then the lens proved itself to be a winner (I think) so, I really don´t know what to think. It´s better to wait and see other reviews and more pics from users.

To be fair, my Nikkor 24/1.4 shows the same and to a degree that surprised me. A malady of superfast lenses that few optics, including Leica M fast WA's, appear immune from. The exceptions, perhaps are the NOCT Nikkor and 28/1.4 AFD.

both of which have a hand ground element and go for 5 times the price of the samyang and still suffer in other areas in exchange for the great wide open coma performance (which was the primary design goal so those two nikkors could be used for astral photography). if you expect a $800 24/1.4 to be coma free wide open you're crazy. if the lens has decently controlled central sharpness and low SA wide open that will be impressive enough for it's price point.
The Nikkor 24/1.4G is sharper wide open than the old 28/1.4AFD and is even at a disadvantage of 24 vs. 28.
The center and central 2/3 parts of the frame of the 24/1.4G is much sharper and clearer than this Samyang lens and performs well against the new ZE 25/2. The bokeh of the 24G and the ZE25/2 are much smoother and better than this Samyang 24/1.4. Yes, it is hard to get such a fast wide angle lens to have as smooth a bokeh as a 50 or 85 but this Samyang seems to be quite a bit worse from the limited number of sample shots.
I was worried about its wide open performance when their site only had one wide open shot and the rest were stopped down shots. IMO, you buy a fast 24/1.4 for mostly shooting wide open or at f2 otherwise you might as well use a slower f2.8 lens.
