So, we met, and had fun, a more social shooting time than some others. In the end though, we still split and met afterwards. Had some schnitzel and beer, chit-chatted, and that was that Me, Stefan (H.Lux) and Lurker X in the end.

Photos coming soon...

So I'm guessing Stefan brought his 645Z. Did you give it a try, Carsten?

I played with it, but didn't try it properly. I like the camera very much, and would be perfectly happy with the Z, the 25, 55 and 90, but that is just a lot of money, more than I am willing to spend.

Hello,
here are my first results using the Z. All with the DA25/4.

Markus, did you go today?

Enjoy,
Stefan

Excellent images gentlemen. What was that building in its former life?

And, Carsten, understood. Are you still looking at the H3D?

Thanks! Beelitz Heilstätten was at the time the world's most advanced Tuberculosis treatment centre, with fresh air intake in the forests, filtered since they had observed that some people had allergies (even though they didn't know what it was), advanced heating, south-facing balconies, and so on. Over 160 buildings, although some have been renovated and are not accessible, and others are too dangerous to enter. Most of the really interesting stuff has been sold off by now, so there may be no more tours there...

I am thinking about the H3D-22, which I would really like, but it is a whole new system with expensive lenses. The 100/2.2 I am looking at costs 2600 used... I am currently weighing other options. I am not really in a hurry, but since I have a ton of Nikon stuff on the market, I could jump at any opportunity quickly, if the right thing comes along.

You are of course very welcome to join us!

So, there are two new tours on the way. The first one is a bit different, and is near Halle. The tour is described as a Märchenschloss, which means a fairy tale castle. It is disused, but in perfect condition, no graffiti or destruction here, but completely devoid of people, of course, other than the tour, and there is probably piles of dust. Lurker X (provided he can make it), has offered to drive up to 7 people (including himself) in his mini-bus-like Volkswagen, and we can all share the gas and expenses, which will be cheaper than the train. If he can't make it, the train is still quite affordable. We were trying to arrange for November 23 (a Sunday!), but it was sold out while I hemmed and hawed, so the date will have to be chosen anew, probably in early 2015 (or possibly 7.12, also a Sunday; I cannot the 30.11 date, and neither can Stefan (H.Lux)). The page is here:

Märchenschloss

I will book soon. Is anyone in? Plan extra time for travelling from Berlin to and from the location. I may or may not stay the night there, either before or after, partly depending on interest from others.

The other tour will start in the spring, around March, and is a Brikettfabrik (factory for the production of coal briquettes), so should rather appeal to the industrial lover than the romantic. I will also attend this, but don't yet know which date. The page is here:

Brikettfabrik

Both are about a 2 hour drive or train ride from Berlin, so quite manageable. Both tours start at 10, and later in the tour schedule, at 11, so a 7:30 train or car departure would be necessary, most likely, for same-day travel.

Stefan: Your images #2 and 3 are a pleasure for the eyes.
Carsten: Your last image is... weird. Somebody arranged the room like that? It's nice and I would have takenseveral images but not without asking myself why.

May I suggest Die Brikettfabrik - Saturday April 25? 7 hours (if I get it right, a so called photo-base tour) seem a bit long but maybe the facility is pretty large. I predict nice weather and a fine day out, and in. And yes, I'm more interested in dirty industries than romance.
What is a correct translation of "Außengelände und Krokodil-Lock"

Cheers!

Great stuff, guys! I really enjoy all 6 pictures. Of course I would have loved to shoot the piano... but that couldn't happen. I am in for both sites, and lunch/dinner/drinks aor whatever are on me to make up for this last (lost) week-end.

Philippe; I hope everything is OK with your family!
You're such a traveling man... you are going on both the tours Carsten announced above!? Well, I hope to see you at Die Brikettfabrik. April 25 or perhaps some other date we all can agree on. Cheers!
