Carsten, your chair shot is the favorite among all those you posted! Great stuff!
Markus, the same applies to your last shot, where I share Boris' opinion!
Though, in fairness, both sets are full of fine shots IMHO.
Here's my last set (sorry for the large set, couldn't decide for a subset). Overall I have more keepers than I initially thought. Although I like color images in most cases more, this place inspired me more into a black and white direction.
More great work from you, Markus! Interesting that you should say that your preference ended up being B&W shots. I started by posting a highly desaturated one, and was pretty much alone in preferring that to the full colour alternative.
My favorites are 25, 26, 32, 33, 34. Many favorites! OK, über-favorites 25 and 33.
Looking at your series at this page I'm impressed by the high and even quality of your images. 30+ images... I think I got like five keepers from the last meeting, lol.
Thanks again for all your comments, Boris, Carsten, Philippe and Jonas! Very interesting to hear what your favorites are, some of them I wouldn't have guessed (e.g. #32).
Pilippe: Regarding desaturated vs. b&w images, I think both approaches are potentially very different here, because with b&w I intended to increase the differences between shadows and lights even more without affecting the colors too much. Achieving this kind of balance with a desaturation approach is much more difficult I believe.
Pretty much everyone already told me that they would first be interested in another event in late spring, March or April, or even May, but I did say that I would inform you of when I go out again, so here it is: Fleischfabrik 14.01. I don't expect anyone to join me though, except possibly for another Berliner or two. It will likely be cold and dark, and we were already there in any case.
Grabowsee sounds like it has been put on hold for now, I am not sure why. I see only tours for the Fleischfabrik and Beelitz, as well as an HDR tutorial course and a single event at a new location, Die Papiermühle, the paper mill, but this has already been sold out so I am awaiting more events there. The current notice says that Grabowsee and Spreepark are taking a winter break, so presumably if all goes well, they will start up again in the spring.
Happy New Year to all my friends, mentors, photographers and merry companions from the Berlin FM meetings!
Carsten, I wll try to come. Between now and I may have some new equipment that needs learning/working out...
Well, as soon as you know if it works out, go to the go2know.de site and book the tour. I already booked, since they are not so responsive in email any more (too many customers?). Personally I will probably spend the tour time visiting one area I missed last time, and then perfecting some shots I messed up last time. Any time left over I will spend using a different lens, i.e. not the 21 Distagon.
Note that I am pretty sure that some tours on the plan got cancelled, i.e. I think there were some Grabowsee dates in early January which are no longer there. I am not quite sure how to mitigate the risk that this happens again, to be honest. I am planning to visit the site more frequently, and always choosing to pay in person at the date of the tour, but that doesn't help if you are planning to fly in...
So, the weekend is almost there. Are you ready, Philippe? Bernhard cannot make it after all, something came up and he had to cancel, so it looks like just the two of us, unless Lurker X or someone else shows up. I am going to redo a couple of missed shots from last time with the 21, but otherwise will probably spend most of the day trying to get closer than last time, maybe focus on specific details like flaking paint or broken windows, and maybe add some abstract compositions. There is so much to do in that location!
And there they were one..... Sorry Carsten, but I have to decommit. Schedule finally caught up with me. I guess I shouldn't complain, it's only been one out of 5 meetings, but I would have loved this one as much as any other before it. Apologies.
