Another question: who wants to join me Sunday morning to the fleamarket at Mauerpark? There are 2-3 turkish dealers with lots of lenses and cameras. Don't expect Zeiss and Leica but I found a mint Meyer Trioplan last time for 30 Euros.

This was taken on Sunday after the first FM meeting at the fleamarket at Mauerpark.

We should not go too late, I would say it depends a bit when we will get to sleep after the dinner

A very nice plan to visit the Fleischfabrik! I really would have liked to join you, but have older plans for this weekend. I'm very much looking forward to your shots and your different styles!

Guys, knowing where we are going to shoot is fine, but it does not preclude having a hotel also...
This what I will book unless you tell me otherwise. It is in thearea we talked about, and seems well liked, with a rating of 4.6

That is very close to the one you had last time, Philippe. I guess you could walk from there to the Brandenburger Tor and Holocaust Memorial in 10-15 minutes.

Finally I booked at the Hotel Angleterre, FriedrichStrasse 31, same as last time. They had a special price on Hotels.com at 138 for two nights. For a 4-star hotel, it felt like a good price!

That is pretty good, Philippe. I should have the tour booking confirmation tomorrow.

Philippe, do you own the viewfinder for the Nex-5N and if yes, could you bring it to Berlin?

Sorry to hear that you can't come, Rudi!

No, I don't, Heinz; It is not yet available here. But if it should be before Friday, I will bring it.

That would be great. It is also not available here in Germany. I would really like to try it and also the Nex-7 when it hits the market and decide then.

...and then there were four. Too bad you didn't know about this before booking the tour, Rudi.

I have asked some friends, but the price has probably put them off. Perhaps I will ask them if they want to join for the regular tour fee of 30 Euro, to bring down the cost a bit for the rest of us, rather than asking them to cough up 50-60 Euro, at which point they will probably all decline.

Carsten, we are committed. As it stands, we are going to shell out 300€. So how much your friends want to chip in doesn't really matter. It would be better, financially speaking, if they came and paid even 10€ or 20€ rather than nothing. And if they contributed to the meeting's success with good pictures and naughty stories, of course...

Rudi, I'm sorry to hear you can't make it. I was looking forward to meet you. Like you I have used Zuiko lenses a lot during the years. And, the more the merrier, of course.

Being four is still a hord compared to my usual way to take images and I'm looking forward to see you. Today it's Wednesday. I'll pack tomorrow and leave home early Friday morning. I won't bring any computer so I hope we can decide about meeting points and times tomorrow.

As of writing I'm not sure I'll make it to the early morning Brandenburger Tor shoot-out, but maybe...

We should talk about that anyhow. Does it still make sense as the weather forecast says not too good things in the meantime? It seems that we have total overcast and light rain.

Perhaps a nice breakfast and welcome meeting makes more sense?

I am interested in that! Good food and good company is always nice.

I will ping my friends again and see who I can get. We'll figure it out. I have already resigned myself to paying a lot for this tour anyway, so no big deal. I wouldn't do it at this price regularly, but once in a while is fine.

Well, Carsten, as the weather most probably will be quite nasty on Saturday, your idea of the Fleischfabrik has turned out not only as a great shooting opportunity but also a great decision for having a great day despite the weather

Let us see what Philippe says because of the "sunrise" shooting.

Well, with heavy overcast, drizzel, winds and low temperature I think I'll stay in bed for another hour....

When I was young I recall coming to Berlin by train a couple of times. First there was Ostbahnhof and then was Tiergarten. Or so I think it was, it's a long time since I was young.

I believe there is a new main train station now? Is that an un-pleasant place or is it spectacular with great architecture and with nice cafés nearby?

The new main station is spectacular. One can have different opinions if it is great architecture though. For sure it is worth to see and take a few images there. In the moment it is not really surrounded by anything.

In my opinion there are millions of much nicer places to meet and have a coffee, for example in the area where Carsten lives and where we have to go anyway because it is on the way to Fleischfabrik for Philippe and yourself, Jonas, whilet Carsten and me are living there (me in the apartment of a friend, 100 meters from Carstens place).

Edit: also we have planned to go to Anna Blume restaurant in the evening, so we should possibly skip Prenzlauer Berg in the morning as we will see it in the evening.

But: as we do have some hours in the morning before our Fleischfabrik date it could be nice to go somewhere else. What about Mitte, Museumsinsel or Gendarmenmarkt? Do you know something nice in that area, Carsten?
