I have no firm plans, Heinz. I'll happily go along if you have similar intentions and anything in mind
Long term forecast says slightly overcast for Berlin on the 8th so we can expect some sun. As the sun comes up east it would directly shine on the Brandenburg Gate and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe would be very close.
I don't know if that is really is a good idea, but could be nice...
06:50... I'll have to contemplate that. It's not impossible at all but I have to think about Friday evening and possible alternative locations also. Brandenburg gate and the memorial are OK (and I'll have to try the 16mm with the WA adapter at the memorial place).
I think I won't make it that early (and I am also not photographically interested in the Holocaust memorial; it is not my type of motive). I could try to make it somewhere by 8.00 though, in case you know where you will be at that time. In fact, Tiergarten is across the street and is really beautiful in good light, so that might be an option.
I am just about to book the Fleischfabrik tour. I have asked for a reduced price since we will only be 5 or 6, most likely, but didn't receive the answer yet.
The tour people have offered a price of 250 Euro if we leave out the Bakery and the Heating Plant. Judging from the photos I see here, both of those locations have interesting shots, but the place as a whole is apparently very large, so there should be no shortage of other spots. What do you think, pay 10 Euro more per person and have no restrictions, or pay less, and work without those two buildings?
I tend to think that, if we already pay 250€, we might as well pay just a bit more and have the full scope of oppotunities. But I will happily go along with the majority.
Philippe, I feel honoured that you and many others find it interesting enough to take a plane here and pay for a hotel room! I am happy to do this, and it also helps me to meet other interesting people and see places I might not otherwise see.
I should add that Boris found this tour company, not I. I am only finalizing the details of our tour.
Okay, I will book the full thing, but may ask a couple of friends here in Berlin if they would like to join, to lower the cost a little. I doubt we will reach 10 people though.
I booked the tour, but need to know what time we want to go. I would suggest something like 13.00-17.00, to allow enough light from beginning to end. These are industrial buildings, and without artificial light, it could otherwise be quite dark in places. This time would also allow us to eat an early lunch before, and a dinner soon after.
Another question: who wants to join me Sunday morning to the fleamarket at Mauerpark? There are 2-3 turkish dealers with lots of lenses and cameras. Don't expect Zeiss and Leica but I found a mint Meyer Trioplan last time for 30 Euros.
Or make that 2... my better half will probably join us for the dinner. She'll having fun in her own way during the day but will eventually get hungry...

I would love to, but Sundays I generally take care of my daughter to give my girlfriend some time off, so I am not sure if I can make it. Let me know when you go, and I might show up. Dinner at Anna Blume is fine with me, but it might be a bit far for some of the others?
