Not much news worthy there other than the statement that Canon production is back up to pre-quake levels.
Does any one really ever expect Canon to say any thing other than they will have new "interesting" products next year?

Shalom, Yakim. Could be a new copy machine.
Actually, I'd like to see Canon either join the m4/3 consortium for the sake of continuity and interchangeable lenses (including my Leica Ms) or build a mirrorless FF that can use EF lenses. I really don't need, and wouldn't likely invest in, another unique platform.
I wouldn't be holding my breath just yet. At any rate, even if they do join the club, we may be a generation (1,5 years) away from a working system. Which may or may not be fully compatible with the current one.
Bah, I feel ashamed of myself, p*ssing on your candle like this...

I am exploring the possibility of retiring at 40.
I understand that in Sweden a part time retirement commences with the date of first employment. Then, with the passage of time, people work less and less each subsequent year, until they ramp down to 0 hours worked by the age of 40 or so, at which time they become 100 % retired.
Hopefully Canon makes an oversized grip for their small whatever. I tried a Sony model, cool as it looked, was really awkward to use save for really small lenses.
I might bite if the L lenses are compatible although it defeats the purposes of compactness. It might be difficult to buy overlapping lenses although I do have some of that now with the Panasonic GH2. I'll wait and see.

Nothing like vague marketing-speak to entice consumers into waiting a year to buy something that the competition has available now
Yakim, unfortunately I must agree with this gentleman.
Around 5 to 6 years ago if memory serves me correctly, I read an interview with a canon CEO (can't remember who, sorry) where he clearly stated that canon was working on the 100-400 replacement. There was no doubt and no vagueness in his statement, Canon was, at that moment, developing a new 100-400.
This has been a rumor for at least the past year, if not longer.
Until there's an actual production announcement, this is just marketing speak. Canon isn't even announcing what their intentions are. "We're going to do something. Watch us."

Well, it must be a Selphy as he was adding that it would be small. As he was not specifying whether it would be a mirrorless model. it could well be it.

I don't see that as a likely option.

That is far more likely. The only question was "When?" and now we have an answer. Well, at least a possible answer.

I sold mine.
I am still waiting.
Guys, you are true party spoilers. Yeah, yeah, I know, you are only being realistic...
There was once an APS sized camera that accepted EF lenses: EOS IXE/IX. It was stainless steel and was so small the lens mount area bulged out. Much smaller than a current Rebel series. It was a nice form factor as long as the lenses weren't too large. Of course it used a pentamirror and reflex mirror but I couldn't imagine a camera being any smaller and accepting EF optics.
An IXE sized SLR or EVF that fully uses EF/EF-S optics without adapters would probably sell really well to current EOS shooters. One that uses a whole new lens system would be competing on even ground with Sony, Panasonic, etc., and sell much slower.
I would love to see at least an APS-C sensor in the EVIL format from Canon. I have been using a Panasonic G2 with a bunch of L series FD glass, and SMC Takumars to boot. A cropped or FF version that could take EF/EFs series would be great, IMO.
