there have been some amazing images so far on this thread; I was wondering if there is a digital camera of choice for adapting these lenses to or are they film shots? I have quite a few older lenses and many that would fit into this category but other than film bodies, have nothing that they all would fit.

sony NEX or µ4/3 can mount any slr lens or rangefinder lens.

Taken with my Canon XT that I got for LESS than nothing....
It was $130 WITH the 18-55 and 75-300 lenses that I sold for $160, meaning that the XT was less than $0....
i think i may have found the best bang for your buck portrait lens on aps-c: the rokkor MC PF 55/1.7. unlike the MC PG 58/1.2 and 50/1.4, it appears to be optimized for close up shooting and the wide open bokeh is smoother than either of them (not sure how things will work out with all of them at f/1.7 or f/2) as well as the tak 50/1.4. most importantly it should be easy to find for under $15. it has a beautiful metal focus ring and is nice and compact as well. unfortunately, it's not an easy conversion to dslr mounts and has a six blade aperture.
