Hmm, I think we need more information. Could you post small versions of two photos which won't stitch, tell us which software you are using, and how you are proceeding?

I never posted a pano ...fortunately I only have two

This ant is interesting because the original image isnt cropped and I have a 95% viewfinder ...my teeth were gritted ....note the antennae ( a 7/11 store).

D700. Zeiss 21/2.8

...and this one as part of my running theme of taking pictures of ants.

Now I know what a pano is ...but did you?

Ah, now I see what you mean with vertical lines. I thought you meant that if you didn't include vertical lines in each photo, the software couldn't join the images

I don't use CS5 for stitching myself, but normally there are stitching options to equalize exposure and blend the results. Are these on? Generally, you should fix the exposure so that it remains the same for all shots. Are you doing this?

I guess it is software-specific then. I will have to let someone who is more familiar with stitching in CS5 chime in.

if the lens has noticeable vignetting it can give photoshop this problem if you don't correct it or tell photoshop to correct it during the stitching process. another possibility is that the light changed between shots, i sometimes have trouble with this during sunset panorama shoots.

Thanks Carsten! It does have a sort of Cinemascope feel to it -- very much like being there.
