Bif -- Yes. I think the 135/2.8 is just fine, and I'm off the fence . . . at least fine enough for me! I was impressed with its details and sharp contrasting areas without halo or flare.
From about 3 meters or 3.5 meters from her pony tail. I like this girl! She has the new Olympus! I'm jealous!
MFD Wide open. It's a Palmigranet flower.
By the way, so far these are all samples of it's wide open performance! Of course it only gets better from there right? I'm really starting to understand why people will pay thousands for Zeiss models over other manufacturers. Namely the files are so easy to work with!
Like most Contax lenses, this Sonnar improves greatly at f5.6-f8.
'Namely the files are so easy to work with!' Safe to say...beautiful greens, bokeh's not half bad either.

Great shots Bif. I especially like the cappuccino!! An earlier quote by you......I have to disagree...here are just a couple shots with the C/Y 50 1.7(cheap!!), compared to the other 50's, and I think it is sharper and has more micro-contrast than the C/Y 50 1.4MMJ it replaced. In fact, I think it is just as sharp as my Canon 50L!!
Gregg
Yeah but look at that bokeh... That's probably why it's cheap. I have the 1.7 too and it's a job to use it in a way that the bokeh doesn't take over the image. Anyway I meant on average... There's no denying that CZ lenses are one of the most expensive line of lenses there are and it's also true that they hold their price better than other makes. That's all I really meant.
In the particular case of the 50/1.7 I would rather have the The Canon nFD or Nikkor 1.4 for a little bit less or the Cannon FL 58/1.2 for the same price as the Zeiss.
I agree on the bokeh1 Def can't compare with my 50L on that...but look at the 85 2.8 you're using. It can't be as expensive as the faster versions, and it looks great. Same with your C/Y 100 2.8...you have taken some beautiful images with it!
Don't get me wrong...I have some expensive glass(ZE 100 MP for example that I just got!!), but getting into these Alt forums has got me rethinking everything about glass!! I just found a link to a Minolta MD 28/2 that I just might snatch up!!
Cheers, Gregg
Right but that's the same thing I was saying. The Zeiss 100/2.8 for example is about $1000 while other 100/2.8 lenses are $100 - $400. The 85/2.8 is about $500 to $600 while other 85mm lenses of around that speed are about $200 to $250 and some are even faster for the same $200 - like the Nikor Ai 85mm f/2.0, Nikkor-H 85mm F1.8, the Canon 85mm 1:1.8 FD, or the Tamron SP 90/2.5, etc. I've tried all those and I was saying that I can see why people pay more for the Zeiss alternatives.
Anyway, here some more with the Contax Zeiss 85mm F/2.8 AEJ... And this is me so it must be flower time again?!!
Gotcha..I see what you are saying...And I have to really agree after using the 100MP these last few days since acquiring it...bokeh is phenomenal!!! The ZE 35 1.4 was the same, too...so I guess I concede your point!!
Gregg
lots of nice shots:
- Bifurcator, I love almost all your pics
- carsten - wonderful first shot on the previous page (the one wiith a stripe of mist)
- gunzorro's hook shot
Thanks Francesco! That second shot is really neat; it looks like the whole mountain is on fire. I wonder if some selection contrast enhancement in the rocks would make it pop a little more?
Thanks Carsten, I will try ... I haven't yet any experience of PP with NEX ... and at the moment it will be difficult for me to experiment more, because my NEX (but not my C/Y lenses) was stolen soon after these first few shots

Oh, I am sorry to hear that! Did you lose anything else too? How did it happen?
just my nex + standard zoom ... plus my swimming pool bag and my golf shoes ... that is, all the stuffs in my car trunk (except my golf clubs, luckily...)

@Bifurcator: gorgeus last flower shot!
@fracas: I wish I could have that kind of scenery to shoot whenever I please, nice shots! Sorry to hear about the camera loss.
@wstam: It's a Panasonic GH1 (says so in the EXIF)
