Thanks Gregg! I like you shots of your son (?) and the B&W of the older man reading! Very Zeissy.
Thank you Carsten. Yes, that is my 4 yr old, Mason. We are together a lot right now 'cause we now have a new baby! Most of my shots are when him and I are out. Yesterday was downtown Santa Cruz after a movie and bagels!
Congrats on your purchase, Gregg! You seem to be having fun, and producing mighty fine shots...
Thank you Philber...
I am enjoying your shots with 50 1.7 The boy is very active, always moving, climbing, jumping. Your focusing is right on.
Thank you Luka...one of the threads on the alt forum is how did you start with Zeiss...well, of course this forum, and yours and Carsten's images really got me into it even more!!
So thank you...
Lovely images, Gregg.
Thank you, too Smirdevan...
Gregg

Thanks, Smridevan. I am shooting at base ISO, exposing for the highlights I want to keep, and then boosting the shadow regions in post. On some of the shots I used an SB-900 flash to give a small but perceptible boost to the shadows. This works with the D3, would perhaps be harder with cameras like the 5DII which have more shadow noise at base ISO. I hope to swap my D3 for a D3x or D4 in the coming months, which might give me even more DR.

Love those Luka.
But I have to say...having a few lenses that don't report exif can be rather a pain!!! Days later or sometimes even hours, and I can't remember what f-stop I took that great shot with??!! Right now I can blame it on the new baby, and less sleep, but that will only fly for so long!!

Gregg, Philipe, Bif, Carsten - Thank you for your kind words.

Gregg - Yes, it is a bit hard to not to have EVIF, but that was the case in the film days. I think ( think ) these shots were at 5.6

Yup! All mirrorless cameras, Sony/Minolta, Canon, Oly (I think), and even Nikon - but for the Nikon you have to modify a lens conversion kit. For the others it's just an adapter ring AFAIK.

Some early shots with my new old ZF.2 28.2. I am very happy with this lens. It is sharp, and although it has the occasional muddy corner, it is generally very well behaved. It has some unruly boke, but more often, it is quite pleasing. It has just a bit more angle than a 35mm, which makes it, for me, more useful (although I will likely end up with the 35/1.4 as well at some point). The CA is much better controlled than I expected, no worse than my 100MP, for example. All wide open. The last shot has an astounding amount of detail, even zoomed in to 100%.

congratulation Carsten to your new lens

the second shot looks like you need not do your panos any more
I can already see that you will like the lens
very much 3D as well! Seems like you used the right distance there to make good use of the field curvature.

I notice that you shoot it wide open, even for landscape with extendet depth of field. And it is still sharp! Just imagine how sharp it might be if you someday decide to close the aperture I have not done it yet - it is just so much fun to shoot it wide open all the time.

looking forward to more images, I haven't had much time to try out mine at all...
