Bif - Very interesting. I'd imagine iso 1250 for m4/3 would be simply un-usable. Your stadium shot still holds the pixel. Things I notice from time to time is sort of a lesser dynamic range, but not always. And, the furry manipulation is quite fun.
FlyPenFly- Did you mean you shot was HDR ? I really like your composition.
Warren - I am with the others, I like the #1, but the flower shot is very nice too.
Cyra - more beautiful shots with 28. I like the #10 from the first series, and the second on the second series.
First time out with as camera since fracturing my hip in a cycling accident 9 weeks ago. figured I could do something while seated. ;-)
Robyn Hitchcock with Zeiss N85 at f2.8 (need to calibrate focus -- calbrated for 5D, but it appears to be slightly front focusing wit the 5Dll.) http://www.boncratious.com/images/RobinHitchcock-seated1.jpg
Welcome, Warren, and congratulations on your new lens!
I relly like your so-called "bench" shot, except that you shot what to me looks like a "leaves" shot, and that is fine too... maybe even more interesting...
Lotus, get better soon!!!
Akul, another brilliant set. My favorite is N°2, which I find remarkable and well worthy of wall space! Simple, minimalist, yet very rich...
N°4 is also a delight.
@Carstenw: Yeah I will try to do that. Normally when shooting at base iso, how underexpose can I get away with and still able to pull details out of the shadows? -0.5 EV or -1 EV? I have stopped down in the picture to f/5.6 because I know wide-open the lens often have CA in the corner and high-contrast edges.
Thank you.
@Gunzorro: I try to adjust the CA in ACR with two slider: red and blue CA but I can't remove it effectively.
@All: Do you guys think the CA can be related to the camera body because I am using a crop right now with a smaller sensor.
Nice shots, Luka, although could it be that #2 and #4 are over-sharpened? I like the graphic nature, although I prefer #1 here
atran, it depends on your camera. I have a D3, and at base ISO, 2 quite stops is doable, sometimes more. With a 5DII, maybe less, due to its high noise floor. I don't know the 50D. You would have to test it, and it is also simply a question of taste. It also depends if you judge it in web-size, at 100%, or in print, so make sure that you judge it in the medium most important to you.
Carsten, Philber -- Thanks. It's healing well. It was a bad fracture (complex acetabular) that could have been a lot worse. I got lucky (relatively speaking). Probably crutches for another 4 weeks while it gets stronger. I can now walk again (gingerly, but seemingly without pain or a limp), although I shouldn't just yet. I don't why, but I seem to treat cycling (road) as a high impact sport. Hip, collar bone, wrists, tooth -- I have broken more things cycling than from anything else, by far.

Thank you Philber.
To all who have commented thank you for your input. I am rather pleased with my first outing with this lens & plan on shooting with it often. I can see even with my limited Zeiss experience what all the buzz is about. This is as fine a lens as I have ever owned. Since I do a lot of close up & macro work, I am seriously considering a 100 MP...Oh what have I done! My poor wallet!

So, wait, that's you in the chair with the guitar then? Or did you mean you were seated in the audience using the camera?
I'm a bit lost... I mean it says "RobinHitchcock-seated" and you said: " figured I could do something while seated" Grrr.. Play the guitar, or photo someone who was?
And you say "Robin Hitchcock with Zeiss N85" - does that mean Robin is shooting the Zeiss - as it seems it may be "with" him.... Errr...

Ummm, I would assume, as I would think most here, that Robin Hitchcock is the guy with the guitar. or are you so old, or so young, that you haven't heard of him? ;-)

Lotus, Great portait with the N 85!
Hope you recover fast and get out shooting more.
