Processing an event I took for two friends running the Spartan Race 2011 NYC!
I actually just used the 85mm prime the whole event even though I brought a zoom with me. Did not bump saturation at all, added some contrast due to the overcast conditions.
Yup, it was AF-S with a -5 micro adjust that I got from a Lens Align.
On the fire jumps, I focused actually on the middle point of the fire.
Yeah. But you can't see it? You've got the big images... So if you can't see it in those then I'm either wrong, the processing did something weird, or my eyes are goofy.
It looks to be front focusing a lot - or whatever you call it - focused on the camera-side of the subject; leaving the subject (or what I think is the subject) dull and OOF looking.
Two others too but I dunno what you focused on for sure and it's difficult to describe in few words. But that should do it. So just my eyes being goofy, or?

I see some AF inaccuracies on my iPad but bot as bad as bif sees them
IMHO, lens align is good only if you shoot at close range. For me, I test at both close range and infinity. Most lenses behave differently at different distances. That is why conurus conversion of N lenses includes AF micro adjustment possibility at close, medium and long range.

Thanks Mike, Thanks AhamB. That last one was just conversion and typical post but it got me wondering about some of the one-shot-artsy-fartsy tools. I thought this looked cool, even if it contains little photographic merit by itself:
Pretty neat effect, but… (here it comes) this is a Zeiss lens thread. How about starting another thread, or using a Zeiss lens?
sorry Carsten, we just got off on a tangent...promise it won't happen again! I just thought that Bif's macro shots would look cool pixel bended....

Next time just provide a link (using the insert link button) to the shot you want to show instead of posting it as an embedded picture.
Hmm, my smiley seems to have gotten lost. It wasn't that big a deal, but I prefer to keep the thread clean. Also, the filter was quite neat, so maybe that topic deserves its own thread?
I am not sure how you would do that, to be honest. The 200/2 (I have one for sale in the B&S, btw) achieves narrow depth of field with a narrow angle of view. How would you emulate that by stitching? Normally you can use, for example, a 50/2 to achieve something like a 25/2, by stitching, but not the other direction.
