Is it a reenactment or are there still uniforms with helmets like that?
Yeah, I'm working on that Nikon tint being bored by Canon reds.
No reenactment, it's actual palace guards. But uniforms vary, I think it depends on what regiment and so on is there.
Nice flowers Bob and Ronny!
Here's an odd manifestation that almost could have been sponsored by Alt-FM. Protesters have put a number of sofas in a local park demanding more benches. Not a terribly exciting image but I though I'd share the moment. Distagon 28/2.8

Wilhelm - I am enjoying your CY 2.8/28 shots. If only I could get nearly good result from that lens. In my case, it is a hit of misss.
Thanks. I am new to the lens but everybody tells how sharp it is. What camera are you using, maybe you just haven't given it enough tries?
It's the last CY I'll buy for now, but wanted something in between 35 and 21. The 25 was an option, as was the 28/2 but the 2.8 is one of few that still is a bargain (190€ mint/minty = cheap for being here). And it is small, I have an incoming analog Contax S2 on which I expect this and the 50/1.4 will be the ones I use.
Just speculating here, but wouldnt 28mm be a perfect FL to use in NYC?
Wilhelm - Yes 28 is a great length to shoot in NYC. So as architecture shot when I want the scale of building to be preserved in the shot. You are certainly correct that I have not given enough tries, although I had this lens for years. I got it with Contax Aria, and converted it. Area that I feel I did not get good result was especially in landscape type of shots. It is possible that infinity is off with the lens. I need to spend more time and do a systematic analysis to figure out what I was not doing right to get the best out of it. I have seen gorgeous landscape shots from this lens from other FM members, just not from mine.
Speaking of the CY 2.8/28, I just bought the AE version of this lens after reading here that it should be easy to modify the lens to clear the mirror on the 5D MkII.
The description of the rear of the lens in that thread doesnt´t seem to match my lens so I suppose it applies to the MM version only? On my lens/ camera combo the mirror hangs on the way down with focus from about 2m. Does anyone have some advice/ experience on mirror clearance with the CY 2.8/28 AE version?
Great images from the lens by wfrank and akul! I have to get out and do some serious stuff with it...
Looking forward to NYC shots with the 28 then luka :-)
twoeye, I have only MM versions but moving closer to infinity means that the back element is moving further into the camera. Looking at the back side of an MM there should be no risk of getting the mirror to hit the glass, do you know what part it hits? You could possibly see some tell tale sign on the ring surrounding the back element package? Note that I'm no lens guru at all, just telling what I see and guess..
More with the MMJ 28/2.8, #1, #2 & #4 wide open, #3 stopped down for infinity.
Wilhelm - woooo eeeeeh ai. The pressure is on. Hoping to get some shots with 28 soon. Great 28 shots from you ! Thanks for showing me there is hope ! Not only that, #3 shows pretty good long distance result. #2 though, is my real fav.
Depending on version, the skit goes something like this:
"Now, Cardinal Fang, poke him with the soft cushions".
"Aha, talk". (poke, poke) "Talk, talk".
"It's not having any effect, my lord".
"Have you got the stuffing up one end?"
"Yes, my lord".
"He must by made of stronger stuff. Bring out... the comfy chair!"
From memory, this version comes from the original LP.
Excellent memory Rico!
Yes part of the "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition" sketches. Going through their list of torture methods they list the rack, a dish rack, comfy pillows, and finally the comfy chair.
