Here is Carsten, shooting later in front of a sunflower field. He hasn't got that lens for a long time, so in respect to the sun shade, there is still some potential for optimization

He needs a shave!

Something more relaxing from the parade stack, CY 100/2

Anyone know about the availability of the Zeiss 15/2.8. B&H has it on preorder. Is there a release date?

Looks like Zeiss I s having problems producing the 15.
Also want to know when B&H will have the ZF.2 21 in stock.

In June there was announcement about delivery "delayed to end of August 2012". At least in Europe. Hope we see availability again in September

f/1.4? Are you using a bellows with that, or some tubes?

The C/Y 50/1.4's MFD is like, 1.4 feet. So no tube needed.

He was just slightly less than an inch toe to toe. I guess his body was about 1cm.

Thanks akul and HLux. Here's another one from the parade. A bit Nikon green cast as opposed to Canon reds. Which I prefer oddly enough. And as the olympics is still on I dont mind the patriotic signalling here :-)

Are these D800 Carsten? How do you like it with sharp lenses now that you used it for a while?

No, these are all still with the D3; I am a bit behind with my processing. What a sweet camera, I am having a very hard time getting myself to sell it.

The D800 is awesome, truly amazing performance in pretty much all areas. The colours are not quite to my liking yet, so I need to do some work there, but according to sensor tests, they are quite accurate, so I guess I just need to create a nice LR import profile for the camera or something.

It is a beast to focus though. In bright light, I am getting pretty good at it, but as soon as I move into shadow, or the sun isn't shining on everything, it gets harder, and towards dusk I can miss by miles. It really needs another strategy. I try to use the focus confirmation points when it gets hard, but this is not a guarantee. AF would help, but I do love my MF lenses. I am considering getting an external HDMI display with focus peaking, which for my purposes would be perfect (SmallHD DP4 EVF).

Thanks, ok the trusted workhorse still. Yes I saw those thoughts about external display. As a Canon guy (you know all about that) I am thinking about a replacement screen. Wouldnt that be suffice? I mean, if you have the time LV will always give accurate focus anyway with a 10x display, or perhaps 15x in the case of D800. And when time is scarce (your kid!) a good screen would do. Of course 36MP is more demanding than 21 but still most shots would look awesome appropriatly focused in quite large prints if that's the purpose.

D800 is an extremely interesting camera even for a Canon nut-head like me.

EDIT: just saw your new shots, great stuff and texture but I want them larger, love the 2nd :-)

Carsten. What a great space. The space captured on the the first shot of the second set is just amazing. The verticality is captured so well. Wow ! Also love the shadows of ducts on trees outside, the open window, holes on the floor / ceiling, texture. Great exposure too.
