Hi Tariq,
Those were my thoughts exactly...on buying a new one vs a used. Amazon keeps lowering the price every other hour or so at the moment(by a smidgen, each time!), so I'm keeping my eyes on it...trying to tell myself that I really DON'T need it....so we'll see. I agreee on the copmpactness, and teh colors, from some of the pictures I 've seen here on the thread. It also seems that it has pretty good 3D, too, with decent micro-contrast! A ZE/ZF 35, or Rokinon 35 1.4 replacement it isn't, but I think it would be much nicer to carry around and take really decent pics with, though! I had an LX-5 for a while, but it just didn't cut it. It took great pics...for a P&S, but the X100 is barely bigger than it. I will keep you posted.
Thank you,
Gregg

I think you may end up surprisepd by just how good the x100 lens is.
Wow. So many great images in this thread. I got mine last week, so many of these are from my Thanksgiving vacation to Michigan. I'm a storyteller, so many of my images were taken in low light. In fact, many are at ISO 3200 and above. I love this camera.
Back from page 18, I took almost the same picture of the bridge, and a similar picture to the exterior street shot at Harrod's, when I was in London in 1999. I know the bridge shot was with a 35Ti, which is often compared to the x100! I think I may have taken the night shot at Harrod's with an SLR, though... I should dig up those photos.
I'm going through the thread as I pine for the x100. Very nice photos!
reza187: Cant wait to see more street scenes from Japan.
kiu101: Love the triptych.
BokehBeauty: Wicked, where is that?
teh_rebel: Shots like 1 and 2 are what keep me amazed with this camera. Such a small package and yet it can easily produce images like that.
I have not been posting much lately because I lent my X100 to a friend. Hopefully it will convince him to get one as well.
Have any of you used the X100 in sub-freezing temps? I will be in the Rockies in Colorado around Christmas at our family cabin. I have used the 5D extensively there but anything I should be aware of other than keeping it in a plastic bag in and out of the house?

Turns out the gentleman I sold the x100 to decided to sell it and I bought it back...it's still got only 3500 shots on it. So I'm back in x100 land and after getting reacquainted, I was right, I missed this camera, it's a joy to use.
I did the 1.11 update and contrary to many opinions, I do notice enhanced af at close distances and faster start up time.
Anyway, hopefully I'll post soon.
AWESOME!!!! Glad to know your back. I picked up one a few days ago and I'm LOVING it!!!

thanks man and i agree! its one heck of a camera. i still need to get more brave to do more street shooting with it (with people in it) lol. but yea, like a couple of those shots above, wide open performance on it is very impressive.
had contemplated getting a nex5N to use with rangefinder lens but that would mean id have to buy more lens = more $$$$ so ill stick with the x100 for now. cant be spending anymore money lol
I'm not dragging out the 5d2 and flashes at our holiday party today. Monopolizes too much of my time. So this is why I got the camera back. Let's hope I can make it work.
By the way, if you cut a gel you can slide it in behind theovf/evf switch and it stays pretty well. I'm working on a solution to mount small gels to the flash. Anyone have anything Thats been working for them?
I find the x100 balances ok with some lights, but not with others.
