Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I just saw this and thought it might be of interest here. According to this post, Fuji estimates that 1 out of every 200 x100's may be affected by the sticky aperture issue. If true, that's less than 1%.

Bt yet they offer no extended issue specific warranty, and people are receiving fixed cameras that have to go back.

That would indicate to me they don't know why it's happening (or are trying to take the cheap way out)

If they don't know why it's happening, they can't fix it...nor can they gather proper metrics.

Ufirtunately I think the op there is very optimistic. 'Don't le it interfere with my love of the camera'

If there weren't a fair amount of 'I had to send it back in a second time' posts I wouldn't mind...but there are a fair bit. Is a bummer absolutely

MJWong, ocean ... thanks! those were processed B&W from RAW file. I normally jpg only with the x100 since SCOC jpgs are very good but for the wedding I decided to shoot jpg+raw just in case

Apparently, Fuji have modified the replacement assemblies just recently according to this post:

"After the camera was repaired under warranty for this issue the first time, it developed it again, so I sent it to Fuji in Edison, NJ about two weeks ago. The comment I got was that the first replacement lens assembly was one of the original ones, and mine was one of two cameras that Fuji New Jersey had seen in the U.S. that developed this problem twice. Lucky me. So in the meantime, Fuji had apparently been tweaking its lens assembly and sent these out to its repair facilities. Now my camera has lens assembly v2.0 and the Fuji guys seem pretty confident that this problem won't happen again."

I thought perhaps the sticky blades issue was overstated as I previously owned a X100 when they first came out and never had any issues. Picked up a used one last week due to a great price and just got it today. Right out of the box the exposures were all over the place. Outdoors each half press of the shutter would have the exposure values jumping all over the place, sometimes overexposed, other times 3 or 4 stops way too dark.

In doing a more controlled test I could focus on a subject in Av mode at F2.0 and take the shot, would look good. Stop down to f2.8 and the shutter speed would increase a stop as well, but the shot would be a stop over, stop down more and the shutter speeds still are correct but as you get down to f11 its nearly totally blown out. Camera seems to think its going to stop down and calculates the exposure but then the iris doesn't close down right.

Very real issue and one that makes the camera, at least in my case, near useless. I don't know if other cases are quite as severe or pronounced, but what a bummer to pull the camera from its box, insert the battery and SD card and have that happen.

Luckily the seller in my case is proving to be very responsive and just wants some documented shots to show the issue before issuing me a refund.

Really would make me think twice about buying a used camera though, as someone pointed out. It sucks because there are some pretty sweet deals, and its still very hard to find new, but if/when it developed an issue you could be pretty out of luck.

Again, just because it happened to me personally doesn't mean it will happen to all cameras, but when you've got it there in front of you acting like that, the issue really does become very real.

I'm not quite ready to make the leap of saying its not an "if" but "when" issue, as we haven't seen quite enough cases yet, but it really is something to consider and it will be interesting to see what the next few months hold in terms of if more and more units start having issues, in addition to what Fuji's response will be.

That sucks. Sorry to hear it. Fuji does need to respond to this publicly to reassure owners and potential owners.

I have a question regarding shooting raw. For some reason even when shooting raw, when I process my shots in Aperture 3 they all say JPG in the metadata before I process them. Is this normal?

Are you shooting jpg as well? If not I'd guess it is reflecting the embedded small jpg used for you to preview on the back of the screen.

Nope, just would hit the raw button when I wanted RAW and even set everything for RAW and it would still say JPG once imported into Aperture 3. Pretty sure they are still RAW files though as they can take alot of PP. Just weird that it doesn't read it correctly. I also have an issue with my Nex 5N where it reads my 18-200 as some crazy ACRA 35/2.8 Tilt Shift lens. Starting to wonder if maybe I should start using LR 3.5 instead as I have both but have only used A3 for the past year and would rather be lazy instead of learning to use a new program.
