We currently have 2 brand new BWG heads available on FM that ARE selling for $300US. These each have one small cosmetic defect on one weld (hence the price chop). Most people wouldn't notice the defect at all as the powdercoat significantly hides it.
At $300 they are a steal. So, what are you waiting for?

The Lottery!
I new that amount popped in my head for some reason. I was looking at it the other day. Looks like a nice product and I would love to have one for my wildlife photography. Unfortunately, I'm tapped out at the moment.
Now, If you need someone unbiased to review it for you..........
I tinkered with levels at the local camera store and came away with a very basic question; what are the chances the hot shoes on my cameras are level? If they aren't, all a level will do is perpetuate the error and create false confidence (and skewed pix).
Anyone have any direct experience with hot-shoe levels? BTW, I shoot a D60, EOS3, 630 and Koni-Omega (which, BTW, has three cold shoes).
Hotshoes are fixed to a casting or plastic molding on the camera housing. In general, angular tolerances are very tight between parallel surfaces so any error would be very minimal. An image that is off by a very small angle (a fraction of 1 degree) will not be discernable.
I did not receive an email from you, just the PM on here - must be an email problem. Please send me your information to [email protected] and [email protected]
Jeff, your hotshoe is steel, the hotshoe is aluminum. You'll wear out the level well before you wear out the hotshoe.... that is, if you are inserting it about 1000 times per day. I can't see how there can be any wear issue on either part.
The hotshoe is steel, but the paint on the hotshoe isn't. You won't damage the hotshoe but if you sit there all day inserting and removing the bubble level, you might have some paint wear.
Great introduction for a nice looking product. I've got the Hama double bubbles (the ones with two cylindrical bubble levels) for sale for the same price. $25 includes shipping to the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, etc.
We at Jobu Design are proudly Canadian, and we use 100% Canadian manufacturers and vendors. Our prices are as competetive as we can get. We will always look at lowering our prices, but we need *some* room for profit as well. As sales increase, our prices will descent. $20US for a professionally machined piece of anything is an amazing price-- buy Canadian and keep our jobs in North America.
Sorry, iang, I was only kidding... I forgot my smiley face.
Of course it would be nice but I certainly understand and $20 for a well machined item like that is certainly worth while.
I expect to buy one myself. Thx for the discount to us FM people.
Sorry, I tried to oder one but the 10 you have at that link must be sold as it is telling me I have to bid higher than the $20.
You actuallt should have made it a Buy It Now price of $20 and not an auction.
