Hello, I have had my 10d now for about a month (1st SLR of any type) and have finally picked up the flash and started playing with it this morning...only to find myself more confused then before...

I have the Metz 54MZ-3 with the SCA3102 adapter installed.

Instead of confusing myself further trying to explain what I have tried, could anyone please provide some settings tips to point me in the right direction...

As I learn, I have been mainly shooting in M mode but will be tring to play around with AV this weekend...

I would primarily like to begin with using it for Macro work an for Fill outdoors.

Hopefully I have provided enough information to get me pointed in the right direction, but if not, just throw something at me and I'll provide whatever detail I can...

Start playing around with the flash and keep their booklets close by. It won't take too long. Using the camera's "M" mode inside is the way to go.

Do you recommend keeping the flash on A mode?

I seem to get hightlight blowout quite a bit the times I have tried...

I also have an omni-bounce and one of the fold-up velcro to the flash softboxes for it...
