I haven't used my 300 for about a year, but today I took it on a day trip to the local nature preserve. I would like to use it more frequently, unfortunately I don't shoot too much at this focal length.

p.s. I have no idea what type of bird the white bird is. Any ideas?

#1 & #3 = Little Blue Heron
#2 = Wood Stork
Both of these species are common in Florida.

Thanks! I thought the Wood Stork looked a bit like a vulture or White Ibis with a balding issue!

I also found the pattern on its legs and feet quite interesting:

great pics and beautiful birds! but i think it's a 'nature reserve' . nature preserve sounds like a delicious canned treat

I wonder if that's why there were fewer birds here today!

The place was actually a "wildlife refuge". http://www.fws.gov/dingdarling/VisitorInformation.html

Thanks! For some reason this lens is out of stock for long lengths of time, then when it arrives it is soon out of stock again. I wonder if Nikon simply doesn't make enough of them?
