Well, I was cruising around in my dad's car and it was a nice day so I thought I'd stop for an impromptu shoot. Just got the tokina 12-24mm for Christmas so I was excited to try it out. I love shooting cars, but with my car in the garage under the knife I just haven't had the opportunity lately. Other shots are with a 50mm. Let me know what you think!

No input anyone? I know this is only my second post but I was still hoping for some critique.

The pictures look nice and sharp. The front plate is a distraction. #5 and #6 are your best ones.

I like #5 the best & #7 moved forward a little to omit the bldg. would be cleaner. The background on the balance a little too busy for me. Love the Miata! Bought one for my wife on our 25th anniversary, it's a 97, aging myself a bit,

Product shots need as much attention on the background as the product itself. #5 the bldg works, the yellow stripes on the poles of the balance draw my eye to them too much.

The MX-5 is my favourite car ever. Photo 5 works for me as it has the least distracting elements in the background. I shot similar images to 2, but with a longer focal length, which helped emphasise the vehicle.

I think 5 is the best. Nice composition and PP. For the others, I don't like the background. I find it distracting. You should have moved the car away from the restaurant or whatever it is and have a more blurred background.

I like #5, also. I find tha blue pillers in #1, make the car look like it has Lamborgini type doors. Backgrounds make the image.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'm on the hunt again, maybe I'll try the blue building another time.

What do you guys think of the processing?

(Is it just me or the did the shots out of the tokina come out way more saturated than the 50mm?)

As I said, I like the processing, especially on 5. As for the saturation, the tones are definitely different between the 50mm shots and the 12-24mm shots. but I see it as a white balance issue. The light seems to be different, hence the different tones. Another thing, did you use a polarizer with the Tokina?

No filter was used at all. White balance was on auto and I doubt it would change as the lighting was pretty similar and I was flopping back and forth between the lenses throughout the shoot. Found this interesting.

Good images and angles. 5 is my favorite as well. Well done!

Very nice shots, like the background and the Tokina has great results. Technicaly that car is not a Miata anymore though, but a MX-5.

Thanks guys.

Yes, you're right, this is an MX-5. Though it was stupid to drop the Miata name in my opinion.

Some of those are nice shots. Done at the right time of day too.
