Boxing Hall of Famer and Downey Ca.resident Lou Filippo passed away at Downey Community Hospital of a stroke this week. Lou judged 85 world championship fights following a long career as a referee. Lou was 28-9-3 as a pro fighter.He also appeared in the early Rocky films and some TV, usually as a referee. I spoke to Lou a few times in the past couple years at local fights. He really seemed to enjoy judging fights no matter the level of competition.
