This doesn't necessarily relate to wedding photography, but I know many of you use blogs to showcase your work. My friend wants to start a blog, but she wants one where she can customize her layout 100%. It seems like all the sites I've looked at only have themes you can choose from. Suggestions please?

Wordpress is 100% customizable. You still work with "themes" but you can tweak individual themes at your hearts content.

I did look at Wordpress, and I actually thought that one looked the most promising. Thanks for your input.

Wordpress has all the flexibility you could ever need.

Using Wordpress, and love the flexibility as well.

wordpress or typepad are going to be great options. Only thing is that being able to customize you are going to need how to read code. No drag and drop kind of customization. Closest thing is Pro-Photo blog or hiring someone to do it.

Development and support for Wordpress dwarfs any other system.

Another vote for wordpress. I just got my blog going and it was pretty easy to install and even as a web design newb I was able to find a theme I like and start tweaking it without too much problems.

I can't get stupid Wordpress going to save my life.

My website is www.willp-photo.com and it displays a lovely blank white page and that's it. I've gone over everything a hundred times, I've re-directed my index.html page to go directly to index.php in the same directory, but it's a blank page.

Please help!

Did you folks install Wordpress in the root directory. I didnt and think maybe I should have. I haven't uploaded anything yet but the default blog is now in down one level called Wordpress which is kinda hokey.

I put mine in the root this time around. It's a pain in the rear to move it.

I installed mine in a blog directory to keep the portfolio separate, but Wordpress is very customizable and I sometimes wish I had put it in the root directory.

But do you blog in spite of hating it? Seems more and more clients expect to see their pics showcased on the photog's blog these days... which in turn gets your name and images out there to potential clients. I use Blogger but am pretty underwhelmed with them. Wordpress sounds like the solution although I admit I tried to set one up with them and had a miserable experience with it. Feel like a doofus now that everyone else has said it's so easy...

I think your blog would be amazing. Of course, you'd have to update it more than every 2-3 years...
