Just upgraded to Snow Leopard on a 27" iMAC and LR seems to be very sluggish with lots of spinning rainbows? Activity monitor show at times LR using 170-80% of CPU.

Anyone else notice this when moving to Snow Leopard?

Is this normal? I expected better performance when moving from my 20" iMAC with 3g of RAM.

Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

Thanks!!

Had a similar problem when I moved to the new Imac with snowleopard. I tracked the problem down to the migration assistant not doing a great job of copying the applications from the old imac to the new. I ran an install with the SL disks and seemed to fix the problem.

Also make sure Light Room is launching in 64 bit mode.

Sorry for being the dolt, but how do I make sure LR is launching in 64 bit mode. I can't seem to find it in preferences.

Thanks.

Find the app in the Applications folder, Cmd-I to show the Get Info window, you'll find the checkbox there.

Thanks. But the info box only gives me the choice of "open in 32-bit mode" and "locked".

Am I missing something?

LR 2.4 Imac 2.8 core 2 Duo, 4 gb ram running OS X 10.6

If "open in 32-bit mode" is not checked it will run 64-bit.

Update to my original post after getting no where with Adobe Tech Support. Finally resolved the problem (fingers crossed) by reinstalling SL.

Suggestions from Adobe included:
- launch in 64 bit as mentioned above
- optimize and relaunch catalog in use
- reinstall LR
- delete preference files

No of the above resolved the problem but I'm sure contribute to the overall functionality of LR.

Update on my Update.....

Still very slow and glitchy.

Whats very frustrating is that sometimes when open it runs fine and then at others its almost unusable.

This happening to anyone else??
