I just got this camera, I'm charging the batt. now. I have a HS playoff game to shoot in less than 90 mins. Are there any quick settings to set for tonight to get the best images in fairly good light.. I don't use a flash. I have no time to read the manual. I will also have my Marklll with me just in case.

Thanks,

Tommy

just set your iso high enough to give you the shutter speed that you need. use the center focus with the expansion and AI servo mode. i have been using the back focus button(the star looking button). you can go into the custom functions and set it for focusing. its custom function IV, number 1. i shoot in manual mode. I've had mine for a few weeks now, and it takes some getting used to. i've also been trying to learn to shoot with a flash. good luck. i'm about on my way out tonight too.

Since you are using your 7D for the first time you can try setting it on Manual exposure, 1/500th @ F2.8 and the auto ISO/ASA setting... usually works pretty good. Other wise Manual exposure mode, ISO 3200 (depending on the field) f/2.8 and 1/500th of a second (depending on your lens. Center point focus with focus point expansion ai servo af.

Thanks for the tips. I used the 7D for the 1st quater than switched back to my MKlll. The 7D did well for the 1st time out. The noise factor just may be as good as my mklll at ISO3200 and it is easier to carry around. My rotator cuff is messed up but not torn, so I may sell my mklll if the 7d can take it's place once I learn how to get the best out of it.

PS: We lost to a very good HS team. Lost our star player on his 2nd run.
