Ooooo...painful.

By the look of the sand in the wave, it's a pretty shallow gnarly shorebreak. That guy is in for some bruises if he goes over the falls.

Remarquable impression of power. Well done.

PS : if that doesn't shock your surf culture, I'd stamp out the string...

Hi Francis, "the string" is the surfer's lifeline which connect him/her to their board so that they can get back on it when this kind of thing happens. It also means the body is easier to find if they don't resurface

While it may not be aesthetically pleasing it is an integral part of a surf shoot.

OUch is right.

Very good action shot.

Really captures the thrill, the risk, the POWER of that wave.

Nice catch

He'll probably hurt for a little while.

Is this in Hawaii? Nice water color

Wicked shot. Is this Sandy Beach on Oahu by any chance? Looks like a similar wave.

Love these surf shots you've been posting. That is some pretty good sized break there!

Aloha and thanks for the comments.

This is, in fact, Sandy Beach on the east shore of O'ahu Hawaii.

Funny thing is that it was pretty small that day. At Sandy's, you the occasional rogue wave that can pound you into oblivion.

I can attest to this. Fortunately for me, I was still young and my bones were still soft. Still hurt alot. haha.

I love that shot, it makes me wish I was there, except for the "landing-after-being-airborne- part".
Great shot.

I like the string, it makes me think, whats going to happen if that board starts rolling through the water. Great shot
