The Epson 4880 printer seems to be completely unavailable. None of the big retail outlets -- B&H Photovideo, Adorama, Calumet, CDW, etc. -- have any of these units in stock, nor do they know when they will have them in stock. Sales personnel at Epson are equally uninformative, in that they simply state that they do not know when Epson 4880 printers will be available. I am interested in the 4880 because I would like to replace my 5-year old Epson Stylus Pro 4000.

Do any of you have any idea what is going on? The demand for Epson's 4880 printers seems to be pretty good, but the supply is nonexistent. Is it likely that Epson has updated the 4000 series printers and the lack of supply is due to changes that may have been made and for which new parts and production equipment may be necessary?

Best regards,

Roman

The distributor I use is expecting another shipment from Epson on the 25th. So there's a date of some kind.

I bought my 4880 over a year ago when the release of the 4900 was "imminent". Who knows when it will actually be replaced. In the mean time, I'm very happy with it.
