How do you shorten a link?

Some posters shorten a link to a single word. How do they do that?

When posting on FM, I use the hyperlink feature built into Fred's site. It's that little globe icon with what looks like a chain link on it. I'm guessing you already knew that, though.

Otherwise, I use Tiny URL.

Actually, no. It's one of those things that was right under my nose that I never looked at. I've been copying and pasting the links into the text. Oh well............

The hyperlink will look really long before you click "send reply", but the final format will display the text as a single word if you used FM's hyperlink function, in case you're still wondering.

I always wondered about tiny url...but can't they call it something else? I always think of Tiny Tim when I see that...ick.
