Super shots. How do they eat something this size and further after the meal how do they get into the air. You wonder how a fish that size cannot put up enough of a struggle to get out of the pelican's mouth, wow!

They will try to swallow anything, the flood conditions gave them a great spot to hunt and I was able to get close enough with my D 300s and 300mm F4 GeorgeW

Wonderful captures George!! I was looking at it thinking, are their necks strong enough to tilt their heads back with that much fish. Well, you answered the question

That's a BIG fish for a pelican. Did you watch him swallow it?

Seems the bill and the pouch are perfectly shaped and sized for that fish. Amazing that they can down a fish that size.

Thanks all, enjoyed taking them but the fish just too heavy for him to lift his head high enough to swallowit! Others tried where it left off but none made it!! GeorgeW
