Focus is more clear on this one, but the out of focus areas tend to be distracting and not supportive in this case IMO. I could easily be wrong though, just take it as an opinion. - Paul

Nothing easy about orchids IMO. When at a greenhouse it is difficult to get them isolated. Your choice here because of the backlight may have been trying flash exposures.

There is one flower that stands out as sharp, you might consider a different crop in a vertical format to isolate this area that has the sharp flower. That was a very challenging exposure as well as location of subject but you are on the right track

Yes, those are orchids.

I'm guessing that they are one of the "cyrtopodium pinctatum" variety.

You should buy yourself a good macro lens so that you can isolate what you are taking and it will improve your results substantially.

Books about orchids can be purchased cheap through Amazon books.
