I'm having some hard time with them.
Someone already had any experience (good or bad) with Sigma Canada ?

Thanks !

I had a very good experience with them a few years ago. I sent my 18-200 lens in to have several dust specs removed under warranty and it came back in about 18 days and it was spotless inside. The dust was most likely my fault (I can almost guaranty that) but they didn't ask where it might have come from.

The last Sigma lens I owned needed to go in when the focus motor crapped out (24-70 2.8 EX DG Macro I think it was called). It was an out-of-warranty service.

Gentec was quite reasonable to deal with - pretty quick turnaround and pretty fair pricing if I recall correctly.

That was a good two to three years ago though.

I have since become Sigma-free, though I am occasionally tempted by a couple of their products...

Dealt with Gentec about 2-4 years ago. They rechipped my macro lenses (out of warranty for free) so they would work with digital bodies, and also cleaned my 70-200 f2.8 also for free (within warranty but without receipt). Overall I had very positive experience back then.

Now I need to take another lens and a flash for repair. What problems are you having?

Good to hear good reviews here.
I sent a EF-500 DG in October 13th to rechip to work with my 50D (not chargeable work). I sent e-mails, nobody gives me answers about the status.
Two weeks ago, I called them and they said they were going to ship it that week.
Last week and nothing, I called them again on Wednesday/Thursday. They said it was going to be shipped again and nothing until today.
I just sent an e-mail hoping that someone will answer me and will call them tomorrow.

What really pisses me off is the lack of communication. I don't have any status, I don't know when they received the flash (I had to call them), I don't know when they will ship it.

I too will give a thumbs up for their service. Though they never got my 120-300 as sharp as I would like, their commitment to my issues with the lens is to commended.

I have dealt with them with 2 120-300 lenses. Their support and service is great. Ask to speak to Dave.

My 530 Super went to them and came back3 weeks later with a board replaced and it dies within 24 hours. Went back to them and got a brand new unit about 5 weeks later.
They are a little slow but they get the job done.

I just called them again and it's the same story. They "hope" it will be shipped tomorrow... but that's the same story I've heard the last 2 calls I've made in the last 2 weeks.
I don't care if it takes long to be repaired, I just want any sort of REAL status.
We should never say never, but for me, this is the last Sigma product for now...

Huh? They didn't fix it but they were committed to trying and failing?

Interesting - the 120-300 is one of the lenses that occasionally tempts...
