This might not belong on a Canon forum, but I thought I'd post anyway. Right now, we see many threads along the lines of "Which lens/camera for Egypt?", "What lens to take to Africa?", etc. Do you think in about 10-20 years, FM might start seeing threads like "Which camera/lens to take to the moon?"

And if so, which camera/lens would you take to the moon?

A Hasselblad, of course.

Do you guys think we will ever see a feature where instead of "snapping" photos, you will basically run your camera in a video-like mode, and then in post you can just grab the exact frame you want as your photo?

Please answer my original question too Which camera for my trip to the moon once I get enough $ to pay the Russians to take me there? Remember that weight is not an issue up there, I've been told.

Don't we already have that frame-grab feature on camcorders?

Yeah .. In fact, last night I was so bored I even watched baseball for an hour. I was that desperate.

We won't be going to the moon anytime soon, undersea may be but not the moon. In 1969 we watch the first man walk on the moon and think in 40 years we'll have daily shuttle flight, well...we can't even get on a plane without delays. In 1985 the movie Back to the Future show us we'll have hover conversion on cars in 2015, and now I haven't seen the prototype.

I believe hovercrafts that run on water are already in production but Detroit is probably hampering the production because they will lose out to the Japanese whose cars will hover longer, but in a more boring manner that will put everyone to sleep, and the Germans whose hover cars will kick ass, but might fall down at any moment after the warranty period, and require expensive fixes.

I GUARANTEE in 20 years the threads will still read - "My Canon Won't Focus!!"

Aha! I knew it

After the MK IV my next camera will be a chip implanted directly into my brain that records the data streaming from my eyes.

Said chip with also send data to my eyes, where a micro thin LED overlay will allow me view an internet connection. I'll be able to take a picture and upload it in a second.

If the cameras have the dynamic range of the human eye+brain combination, that'd be awesome. I mean, we don't need a GND filter to see things the way we want to see them.

My wishlist
- 800mm f/4 lenses in a size that's like the current 300mm f/4 lens size
- Full frame being so cheap that APS-C cameras are bought only by fanboys and trolls
- EF 20-100mm f/2.8 for $1000
- EF 100-300mm f/2.8 for $1500
- EF 800mm f/4 for $2000

which moon, Ganymede, Io, Europa, Callisto, Phobos, full moon, half moon?

Do you think in the future people will still use napkins? Or is this mouth-vacuum thing for real?

I'm hoping that in the future, people will realize that vacation photos really don't require different gear because it's in a different country, but on what you plan on doing in those countries.

Like, going to Africa: If you're going to Egypt to see the pyramids and sights, I'd take the same kit I'd take to any city or general vacation. If I'm going to Kenya to go on safari, however, that's a different story.

They will probably have this option at some point. I hope it never happens though. Digital photography makes it a heck of a lot easier to take decent photos than film photography. If the feature of taking high res stills from video is added, that invalidates one of the most important skills necessary for being a photographer, timing. Pretty soon, it will be so easy to take "photos" that it will become even more difficult to earn a living as a photographer. People will simply do what some lazy sports photographers do these days, spray and pray.
