I don't get a chance to post here very much but I really enjoy looking at all the great work posted. A local bobcat family has been keeping me very busy this fall. Watching the kittens grown and become more independent has been an absolutely incredible experience. Below are a few of my favorites from the Fall so far. The young were very energetic yesterday and I managed to capture some video with the new 7D. Many more photos can be found at my blog.

Wow! #1 is gorgeous, and #6 is quite a capture both in subject matter (a whole little enclave of the kitties!) and the amazing IQ of the one in front.

It's interesting to see the contrast in the kitten-like look of #1 compared to the later shots that show their wild side.

Where did you find these guys? Great set.

Marcy

Thanks Marcy! These cats are in the Santa Barbara area. I've been photographing the mother for three years, although this is the first year she's had kittens.

There was lots of post processing on that one and definitely some clarity adjustment and gradient masked blurring. I'm thinking of printing this one big and plan on doing some reworking.

Amazing OPand shot. Thanks for showimg what the 7D will do. I am about to make the move to the 7D or the 5D MKII not sure which yet. The 7D has the speed I need. Not sure the 5D is that much better. Great photos. I think I like the last one the best!

It was very nice of them to line up like that!

I'm liking the 7D a lot.

Beautiful set. Are these wild or captive? Which lens did you use? #4 is neat, and the spotlight in #7 adds a cool effect.

Thanks Rob! #1 is another favorite of mine. It's the one and only time I've seen one in a tree. But I keep looking...

What a great series! I'm so jealous you get to spend time with them, I have squirrels around here, wanna trade?

Fantastic shots all around but 1 and 4 are my favs, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, it's great to see them while it's still sunny and get opportunities to compose with the sunlight in mind. These are all wild and I am pretty sure all were taken with either the 100-400 or the 400 f/5.6

Thanks Carl. I hope everyone noticed that he's playing with a small rodent in #7. I just missed getting some shots of him batting it high in the air and jumping after it. (Poor little rodent...)

Thanks Sean. I also prefer the shots where they aren't making eye contact with me. But I know a lot of people disagree, so I take both!

The local ground squirrels aren't too happy about the bobcats...

The location is listed on my blog linked above. I don't mind sharing the location but do ask that people stick to the trails and don't chase after them.
