During my visit to Glacier NP I wanted to capture my own version of the Wild Goose Island view. I must have visited the tripod hole location about 10 times in the 3 days we were there. The light and weather was so poor for us that the classic view wasn't to be had. The first image below was the best of several I took at various times of the day in various weather conditions. The wind was almost gale force in my face. The other two were taken looking in the other direction on the only afternoon I saw blue skies.

David, I'll go with #2.....brings back some great memories for me (and it was only a month or so ago!). We had hazy weather the day we were there but still a great place to visit...just makes you want to go back, doesn't it?!

All three are pleasing to me David. I like the light in #3 the most, and might be tempted to crop a bit of that lovely blue sky.

For me #2 has the edge but the color is nicer in #3.

#2 is my favorite, I like the composition. The tiny island lends a sense of scale to the scene.

2 is my pick as well. The island is great and it is a pleasing composition that makes me wander all through the image.

The FG rocks seem a bit blue in the 1st shot and is less interesting because of everyone stops there, myself included. Now 2 and 3 are very cool. I like the wider view of 3. Looking east gives one a whole different take of the area, I might loose the road on the last.

Hi, David. Well, when it was blue, it was very blue. What deep rich colors. Really like both 2 and 3. Can't make up my mind between those two. Love the clarity and lighting in both.

I agree with the consensus - #2 is my fav and it is VERY nice, a real oooo-ahhhh! shot. The exposure and colors are perfect, and I really like the strong diagonal shadows across the base of the mountains as well. Maybe you have identified a new signature view of the island

I know exactly what you mean too. We were at Glacier in 2nd week of June, and the weather was spotty at best. While I did get some shots at the park I really liked (off the balcony of our hotel actually ) the famous shot you show in #1 was also weather impaired. My best shot of it is not close to as good as your effort in #1. To make matters worse, the GTTSR was closed, which we knew before we got there, but due to travel constraints, we could not move our dates. Anyway, suffice to say, we plan to go back again when the road is open and hopefully the weather is a little better.
