... but do you mind if I post them here in Nature and Wildlife? I'm relatively new to FM (though I've been lurking for ages) and have yet to post any images for C&C. This weekend I am flying to Oklahoma for three separate horse and farm shoots, and look forward to getting some feedback on the images. I suppose I thought I'd preemptively ask you all if you mind my posting them here next week, or if there's a more appropriate place to ask for feedback on FM. I've seen a few horse threads here ... oh, what the hell. I guess I'm just a little nervous to start posting photos here, that's all.

In the meantime, here's a couple Hereford bulls. I took this in early August at the tail end of a thick morning fog at my in-laws' ranch in southwest Montana. (Let's see if I can figure out how to post an image here.)

Oh nice bulls! I really like the mood in that shot. So, I'm glad that you posted and personally, I think that you should continue to post, even if the subject matter is horses.

There are certainly some grey areas around here. Dogs and cats generally don't make the cut, however, it is less clear in my eyes as to whether or not horses and other livestock are fit for inclusion. If you think that we'll enjoy the images here, and that you might get some useful comments (if you want them) then I would say that you should post away.

All the best,
Josh

Thanks Josh, for taking the time to look and comment.
Don't worry--I'll keep my dogs in the People forum, right where they belong.
I love doing ranch and livestock photography so hopefully I'll get some more green lights on here.
Thanks again,
Haley

Martin, I'm sure before too long I'll have a beef with somebody. This is my kind of place.

Shoot. My beef joke didn't work.
So far everyone in this forum seems pretty great. I'm looking forward to learning from you all.

I like your capture - and BTW - I'm sure everyone caught your joke - they're just thinking of some smart-A way to pile things even deeper!

What I like about this shot is the story it tells - the two non-horses, the fence, the tire against the post, the tag on the ear - there's a lot going on that catches your interest & lets you fill in the blanks internally.

Thanks for sharing!

Marcy

Looks like you got the right angle on the bulls.
Nice shot.
I've been known to throw a few cows up on this forum. (I dont mean I make cows throw up..)

Do you have any herons with blue tags on their ears

I like the mood of the shot and the angle works quite well. Funny how the ears are different, on is sticking up in front of the horn and the other behind.

Can't wait to see horses.

I for one have never thrown up a cow, neither on this forum or elsewhere

Tim

I have thrown one cow up on this forum - that is all.

Tim, right? That's why I chose that particular bull. If my shot was crooked, I could blame it on his ears. Mmmhmm.
I have thrown up a cow. But I'm a vegetarian so the accidental meat was a shock to my system.
Marcy, these two guys were staying in the pasture just adjacent to the house--so pretty much they were in the backyard. I have to admit I love waking up to the soft mooing they make in the morning just outside the window.
Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to look and respond.

Nothing like a soft mooing in the morning, eh?!
If you've thrown up a cow you're eating way too much/too fast.
I'd steer clear of this Forum, Haley ...talk about a shock to your system
Nice grab, BTW!

Haley, please do post your horse shots. I am mighty curious to see them myself. My wife has a horse and I am trying to learn a few things when it comes to photographing them.

Your bull shot looks great. I think the fog and depth of field help contribute to the image. You have a nice angle here and your PP looks solid. - Paul
