Nice set Robert.
Looks like the swan is getting an escort in the first one!
Second one is my favourite, you are right it is like seeing double

Wow, nice! That first shot with the mergs all around the swan is very cool, at least for the subject matter. #2 is very nice also.

I'm now listening to a song (cover) from Dylan's first album... I'm not sure if that was what you intended.

The mergies in 1 really demonstrate just how big the swan is! 2 is real nice but the last is my favorite. It is quite a touching scene.

#2 is so neat! I wonder what they were both looking at - some tasty morsel swimming underneath the surface? I also like the last shot - it's beautiful in a very stark way, and shows their reaction to the onset of cold weather.

Bob - I like the way the muted colors echo the B&W feel, but add a bit of tone to the last shot.

Marcy I have to ask you now which photo you prefere, the second or the color version of the fourth. Just curious to see which would be a more usable photo. Take care. Bob

Jim the last is my personal favorite of the set also. The rear cover of the book uses this shot:

Bob - Okay, I am getting a bit confused on the numbers and labeling. The second shot is the two swans swimming in unison, right? I love the romantic feel of it. The color version of the fourth is the one that was labeled "taking it easy" in the original B&W version, right? That one has an entirely different feel than the romance, harmony & peace in the unison/swimming shot. It ('taking it easy) is more of a heart-wrenching nature shot about a loving couple surviving hardship in winter. Of the two versions of the fourth shot, I like the color version better because it still has a B&W feel, but adds muted tones to the scene.

I like both; the swimming shot as well as the winter snow shot. I know my responses are real 'girly,' but those are the elements that speak to me in various photographs, and I like the way you have captured the relationship of these two swans (I am assuming it's the same pair - if not, I'm gonna pretend that's the case, for the sake of romance).

Since both are excellent & very appealing, I guess I'd need to know what the ultimate audience and purpose was, and what sort of message you want to convey if I were to pick a favorite. Are you saying you can only use one? If so, can you tell me more about your goal & maybe I can be more helpful? I love them both, so I wouldn't get rid of either one if possible.

Thank you Marcy. I think your reply is most accurate and insightful. I was just testing the waters in an effort to see which photos seem to have greatest strengths.
Your comments are valued. Again, take care. Bob
