I figured there wasn't a thread where people could post their favorite shots from everything they shot this weekend so I figured I may as well start one. I'll start off.

OK - I'm in!

We just had the first Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix weekend, followed up by an Aerosmith concert after the racing. Last race of the season, and my first attempt at shooting F1 cars at 195mph from close range!

Joe Perry was easier to shoot at close range, but the organisers only let point and shoot cameras to the concert unfortunately:

1. Sebastian Vettel (Germany), race winner in the Red Bull Racing F1 Car

Even with a point and shoot you got a cool shot of Aerosmith!

Does Friday night qualify for the weekend? This was from first round of the Michigan H.S. Football playoffs.

Not anywhere near what you folks are throwing down, but this one just says "snow is almost here and that's a good thing" here in Maine

Must've been a slow week for news, but I had 3 photos picked up by the local papers... 2 from Friday Night's Varsity game and this crowd shot from Youth Football of a little sister cheering for her favorite football player...

After 7 games, I always enjoy a break from the action shots and snap the siblings...

For those of you who do football and soccer shots, can I ask what your settings are?

For me, aperture wide open and whatever ISO is necessary to maintain SS around 1/1000". IS off. AI Servo. Center point focus. Back-button (*) focus.

I shoot at whatever the conditions allow. In bright sunlight i like to get 1/800 at f/4 (I rarely shoot at f/2.8 even though the lenses I use support it) or about 1/600 at night. I always shoot aperture priority and then change my auto-iso settings to be where I need them to get the shutter speeds I want. that way I get the shutter speed and aperture that I want and the ISO moves depending on the light in that specific area. If your camera has good hi-iso performance then Auto-ISO can be extremely useful for sports in my opinion.
