For those who saw the Narnia movie Prince Caspian, it opens at this very special place on the East coast of the Coromandel Peninsula of North Island - Catherdral Cove.
We made it up that way end of October as part of a broader roadtrip. We arrived on the 26th, but it was a gloomy afternoon, so we went on the walk in the morning. We found it taped off, as just the previous afternoon part of the roof caved in! Apparently there were quite a few people around and the rocks missed someone by about 3 feet! And apparently, some people then were hanging around ON the fallen rocks taking pictures!

So we "missed" getting a super/HDR shot of the cavern, and all the "action". I hate to think if my kids had been dashing through when the rocks fell. I did get this picture, tape and all:

Shame about the kids not getting squashed. er, I mean, wow that was fortunate

It looks realistic enough but I think a bit of brightness enhancement in the shadows might add some interest - depending what was in there. The photo works well with the story but perhaps not so well on its own. It would be better, for example, if there was a sign saying "beware: falling rocks" partially buried by the fallen rocks.

I don't think I was going to risk putting in a squished sign
There isn't too much in those shadows - just the rock sides. It was taped off in a hurry the previous day, maybe by now they've put up a sign and a better barrier
I have a good HDR taken about 2 years ago, but I had hoped this time to get some compositional elements 'right'. Now I have an excuse to make yet another trip up there.

Here is an edit to push those shadows.

And the view, at high tide, from 2007.

The plan was to go early (check), at low tide (check) and take an HDR set with the big rock in the next bay larger than in 2007 with a wide angle lens to get the entrance in too. The rockfall would be Ok, but all that tape!!! I wasn't going to sit and try to PS that away for hours.
I guess there are a few people who had a narrow escape on 26 October and a tale to tell their grandchildren one day...
The whole area around there is fantastic! Photo opportunities abound.
