I went to visit a freind in Nova Scotia for the weekend who is recovering well from surgery. I had a lot of fun taking Haloween pictures and on one morning when it did not rain I took these pictures and re-realized that taking pictures at home is easier. You understand the weather and the direction of the sun.

I missed the leaves changing by a week or so, but it was great to go and see the possibilities.

Not great pictures but I am posting them anyway.

Comments and feedback are appreciated. Scott

A couple of them are from Lunenburg as well.

very nice scott, i love this peggy's cove area, lots of possibilities - looks like not much people at this time of year. i'd be interested to see more from lunenburg if you shot any from across the water on the other side! lunenburg is one strange and colorful town!

Binh: Unfortunately, the morning we went to Lunenburg was raining too much in the morning and I was short of time, so my pictures of Luneburg are limited to walking around the town with my family and had to rush back for a lobster boil. It really is quiet at this time of year. I think a couple of weeks earlier would be better for leeaves but they were still out a bit. Thanks for the feedback. Scott

The lighthouse is neat but my curiosity is definitely piqued by the color shows of shots 2 and 3. The houses look like a photo op waiting to happen and the lack of teeming hordes makes this all the more tempting.

I really like that first one. The day I was there was unfortunately an unplanned stop so the time of day was all wrong. Couple that with it being the middle of the summer meant that there were people EVERYWHERE. Impossible to get a great shot that day. Good excuse to go try again

Good work with these Scott. I especially like the second and third. The trim work on the house really stands out and is a nice accent.
Not your typical shots, but you did a good job with these.

Alan. Nova Scotians seem to love bright pastel paint, which makes for great house shots everywhere. Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

mccaf: Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Downeaster: At 7:50am in the morning (6:50 now with the light change) on Halloween day, there are no other tourists out at Peggy's Cove. Peggy's Cove was good for pictures but Luneburg had all the boats put away. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Rich: The buildings in NS are very photogenic. In Lunenburg they paint them all freshly. Outside of Lunenburg the weathered look works as well. A prettty spot that I wish I had taken a week to visit a week or so earlier. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Cool stuff, Scott. I enjoyed them all. I really love the light sneaking onto the fg rocks in the last. I like the subdued lighting in these, too, though I'd try to reduce the bluish/magenta cast in the clouds in the 1st, 5th & 6th.

Ah, but you've taken me home. I lived on the St. Margarets Bay for 7 years. Nice takes on Peggy's Cove Light.

Nice photographs Scott. I was in Nova Scotia for 8 days the first of October. The fall color was spectacular. When I was a Peggy's Cove there were still plenty of people around. The houses and building in Lunenburg are great for photography. I spent several days in the Mahone Bay, Lunenburg area. I can't wait to go back. I will post some photos when I get them all processed.

You may feel out of your comfort zone Scott but it doesn't show in your images. These are very much up to your usual standard. Great colours, light and detail

As someone who lives 30 minutes from that lighthouse, it is refreshing to see someone enjoy photographing it. Around here it is "Oh my god, not another Peggy's Cove shot!". I've lived here 10 years and I still love looking at it, at the general feel of the place.

Did you get lucky and go there on a freak empty day, or did you have to retouch out tons of folks? The last time I took a wedding couple there the best I could do was about 5 tourists in the background, so there was some decent retouching work needed.

As far as the colourful houses, I think it is more of a fishing community thing than specifically a east coast Canadian thing. I've always hear it is so that drunk fishermen would have an easier time finding their way home, they just have to remember that their's is the green and yellow one, or whatever. No idea if it is true, but I still like it.

Barry: I shall check the caste in the sky. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Rosemary: It is a beautiful spot. You were lucky to live there. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

pintofguinness: I look forward to seeing your pictures. I only had a breif time to take pictures but it sure looked like I needed more time. Thanks for the feedback. Much apprecaited. Scott

David: Thanks for the feedback and the compliment. Much appreciated. Scott

Lance Lee: At 6:30AM on Halloween day, I was the only tourist at Peggy's Cove. I guess that it would be hard to arrange a wedding at that time . I thought that paint was cheap in Nova Scotia. I had not heard the other theory. Thanks for the feedback. Scott

Looks like you had cloudy skies like I had, although I like your pic's of Peggy's Cove light house way better than mine. It's to bad that Lunnenberg has all those power lines in the way. Nice shoots Scott, when are we going?

Sorry for the tardy response - I have been busy at work.

Dan. You are too modest - your pictures are good. September next year Thanks for the feedback. Scott
